Find where to watch something with "Discover" and your "Watchlist"

Pretty much! Some friends of mine don’t realize it could be available on a service they have already in a different format or sometimes higher quality.

Same here, we use the managed accounts at home so it would be beneficial to have the option to toggle discovery on for managed accounts

Would be cool if when you are in your own library that the links would show up. I have this movie in my Library but also own it in my Apple TV purchases. It would be cool to be able to go the the Apple TV purchase right from my library to watch it in 4k if I wanted to without having to add it to my Watch List first.
Hope that made sense.

On AppleTV I can’t get it to open some streaming services. It instead offers to take me to the App Store even though the apps are installed. So far here is what I have found. Note this does not happen on iOS. I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work on iOS

Working:

  • Disney+
  • AppleTV+
  • Amazon Prime Video
  • Hulu
  • Netflix

Not Working:

  • DirecTV
  • Paramount+
  • Fox Now

This is off to a good start and got me to log into Plex for the first time in a few years.

The big feature I want is to be able to track movies we own digitally elsewhere (mostly Google in our case). I understand if for privacy reasons - or because Google doesn’t allow it - it wouldn’t be able to automatically sync collections, but even if I could manually tag a movie as “owned digitally.” Then I could browse and watchlist my large digital collection alongside streaming offerings, something I have wanted to do for years.

Same goes for tagging as something we own on disc.

I do not want to run my own server anymore just to serve as placeholders for the content I own digitally.

JustWatch does so many things well but doesn’t offer this either. It’s the single feature that would make me the most happy.

First, you are showing Showtime (the pay subscription app) but not Showtime Anytime (the cable subscription connected app). That is a miss for me.

Also, I am seeing Discover in my android TV Plex app, but this feature isn’t showing up on my iOS device even after updating. Do I need to do something to get it to show up?

Another issue I have found. Pulling up Brigerton which is on Netflix. Season 2 Episode 1 reports there is no service available but Season 2 Episode 2 is listed as on Netflix. Both are actually available.

Will additional services eventually link directly from Plex.? I am currently watching shows on HBO Max and Paramount Plus and would love it if I had a single location for all

not being able to add DISCOVER to managed users is truly a dumb decision.
add me to the growing list that thinks that should be fixed!

If they are available in your region to you out side of Plex then they should show up. We are working to figure out where services which should show up are not.

It is not tied to your server version. make sure all player apps are updated to latest. for web app use https://app.plex.tv

I’d like to see Prime Video subchannels added.

We subscribe to Acorn TV, BritBox, and PBS Masterpiece through Amazon.

This feature is kinda cool, but trying to launch shows in Crunchyroll and Hidive doesn’t seem to work on Chromecast with Google TV, just popping an error instead. (Crunchyroll links do the same in the Android app, Hidive does this thing where it redirects to a play store search with hidive and vrv, and if you open the app from there it loses the link and just opens the app normally. )

I would prefer the “not available in region” filter to be an option. I use VPNs to access services in other regions and would like to have the option to see these in Discover even when I’m not connected.

Another reason to have the option to turn this off - I have shared libraries in my country that sometimes have shows that are on streaming services that I access with a VPN, so would rather watch from these libraries. If I have to be connected to my VPN to see USA streaming services in Discover then my traffic goes via the US VPN when I try to watch from a shared library in my country.

Unpinned on all clients.

That’s exactly how it works, much like the native OS watchlists try to do as well. It will link out directly to the app to the item’s page. Except it doesn’t always quite work (in native OS lists and Plex). Like Plex can open HBOmax on my phone but it can’t find the app on my tv.

Right now Paramount Plus and HBO Max do not link here in the US on TVOS . My work around is when I get the error it asks if I want to search the App Store for the streaming app. When I do I can open the app and the go to my show from there. Extra steps and my guess (I have not tested) is that it won’t mark my show as watched.

it will not mark the show as watched because we cannot sync watch state with external services.

Is this the case whether I use my work around or it redirects me automatically? Just wondering.
So far this fantastic. I love everything in one place.
