Find where to watch something with "Discover" and your "Watchlist"

No need. I don’t have my Roku hooked up at the moment but I’m sure what you are saying is true. I will pass that long to Roku team when they are back on. To be clear I didn’t think it was intentional in that I’m not sure why it would not find a partial match. I know you cannot remove the “more ways to watch” but I thought server content would always show before it.

Not a bad feature… But when will you bring back the grid view in folders, it will be more usefull !

Thanks for the response but i’m not on Roku. I’m using the LG tv app (LG webOS). Maybe it’s the same issue?

possibly. I was not aware of an issue there with LG but I will let folks know

This is perhaps a bug for Puerto Rico users, but under Streaming Services I’m getting a message that says: No streaming services found for your region. Being a US Territory, we share the same region with the rest of the US.

afaik it depends on how the services classify things. just because something avail in US does not always mean available in Puerto Rico. But will let team know there seems to be an issue there.

There seem to be a problem with one of the Canadian streaming services.

In Canada, there is no HBO Max, all HBO content is available exclusively through the Crave streaming service.

But when Crave is selected as a service in Settings, there is absolutely no HBO content suggested in Discover. At all. Since it’s the only place in Canada where HBO content is available, it should suggests at least the top HBO shows currently streaming (just like it does when selecting the HBO Max service when located in the US.)

there is one major issue with the Discover feature; it doesn’t include your own library content! So essentially you are directed to a “streaming service” even though you already own it.

Hopefully its an oversight but I am not too sure it is.

I’m sorry but this is either an ignorant statement or an intentionally misleading one. I don’t know a single Plex server owner who uses their admin account to actually view their media. Everyone uses their admin account for server management and managed accounts for the different members of their family.

There are plenty of other features that Plex has given server owners the ability to enable/disable for Managed users so why on earth would you take that control out of your users’ hands? You could easily have the feature off by default and only the admin can enable it for managed users. The fact that your answer to it not being enabled for Managed Users is for “safety purposes” so kids don’t see inappropriate content by mistake just doesn’t hold water.

I STRONGLY urge you to report back to your team that this feature is essentially dead in the water for every Plex server owner until this can be enabled for Managed Users.

On the Chromecast with Google TV, selecting any show or movie that resides on Disney+ results in a toast message “something went wrong, please try again later”.

I do LOL.

However, I get your point.

I want to manage my account and what users incl myself get.

As I’ve said, I’ve unpinned the function bit would rather remove it completely until it is no longer beta.

This is an exciting development, but Discover seems to lack a critical user control experience which is the ability to “temporarily hide” or “permanently hide” a movie or series from recommendations aka “Discovery”. There are individual movies in specific genres that I know I never want to watch and would rather be able to ban them from ever being recommended again or I’m not interested in it tonight and just don’t want to see it for the next 24 hours, week, month, until the next holiday season. Did I miss this in the Android app as my server doesn’t display either feature at this time. Hope to see more user centered approaches to enabling experimentation with the recommendation experience. Heck, let me create or adopt a preferred open recommender system or join in collaborative work of university researchers like with Movielens.

Interesting. I don’t know a server owner that doesn’t. You may be the first.

I guess all your server owners live alone. I can’t think of a good reason to use my admin account for viewing media other then Plex not extending features to managed users.

Been waiting for someone to come around and do exactly this. I would love to try this, thanks plex!

Hi I fixed the issue of when I search my server wasn’t showing as a source for me all I had to do is. once I have chosen the new agents refresh the metadata for all content and it worked sadly with TV I had to manually select all 1700 different series and click refresh metadata in 1 lump search now it shows up perfectly in the discover and love this new feature

Your wrong as long as your using the latest agents and refresh your metadata your own content appears this discover feature is brilliant and if I find something I don’t have but Netflix does I just quickly grab it and then watch it. Only takes 5 mins

@BigWheel I see your a plex employee I would just like to say so far I am loving this discover feature. I have refreshed my metadata so I am showing as a source and I understand hopefully you will keep working on it and give people in future the option of turning off and on for managed users and the other issues people are raising personally I don’t mind it showing me content from services I don’t subscribe to as it is helping me “discover” new content I can watch

I see there are minimum version numbers of the Plex app listed for Android and Amazon Fire TV. Any word on when the version available on Amazon’s app store will be updated? It’s currently at 8.31.2.31546, so i can’t yet test this on my TV or phone…

The new features are great, but is there a way that I can filter my watchlist so I only see series that have episodes I haven’t yet watched?

Greetings
Giaccomo
