At this point there is no login to your streaming services, you just select the ones you use, so it does NOT mark the episodes you’ve watched on the service as watched. It’s similar to JustWatch in that regard. Hopefully a login will happen at some point & we’ll be able to keep track of it. From my experience it seems that the shows in my server library show the watched episodes as watched on 2 of the 10 or so shows I checked, but you do have the ability to mark them as watched the same as you would on your server library.
It looks like we do see the upcoming episodes show in the watchlist, at least sometimes.
My experience so far:
Rising of the Shield Hero
Season 2: lists 13 episodes with release dates
E1: April 6, 2022
E2: April 13, 2022
…
E13: June 29, 2022
I assume those release dates are correct, but it only shows when you click the episode
Shows a “Season 3” Poster. S03 has been announced with S02 but has not been given a release date
Season 2 poster is alright, but season 3 poster doesn’t look like a poster & is in Japanese, the original language of the show, but can’t be changed & I’m not sure where their sources come from which could be a problem, especially for foreign shows.
Overlord
Shows Season 4 with a poster & E1 release date of July 4, 2022, which, again I assume to be correct though I have not confirmed.
One annoyance is that the Posters don’t all match (Like I have my library set to) & there’s no way to change any of that on the Watch List
Other Shows seem to have a similar thing, sometimes not having a poster at all, even for ones that have episodes currently airing.
Yes, it’s under the Plex server listing & behaves just like their other items like Live TV, Movies & Shows, Podcasts & can be pinned just like anything else.
anyone else getting an error when trying to click “Select My Streaming Services”? (“An error has occurred, please try again later”). This happens to me on all my apps and even on my media server. Tried to restart eveything, log out and in everywhere… nothings, still get the error…
One thing I noticed is that if you add a movie from your server library to your watchlist which is not in an online service it won’t be listed as available.
Are you referring to the Available From Your Watchlist hub on the Discover section?
I think I’ve seen in another thread that that hub will indeed only list items based on their availability on those other streaming platforms – not local libraries. This is similar to filtering your watchlist by Available to stream.
There shouldn’t be a work around. In fact I highly recommend Plex to continue their talks with Roku to work on this linking problem since Plex isn’t allowing us to get rid of this feature. If they intend to have it forced, it BETTER WORK on every platform that it’s on. Period. Start talking to Roku about getting these apps linked.
There seems to be an issue with films and TV series on Google TV (as it’s now called); Discover does display items that are available, but when you try to access Google TV through the icon in discover you get a “nothing available” (or something like that) displayed.
Netflix, Prime, BBC iPlayer all seem to work fine, so far it’s just Google TV (Google Play TV) that has this issue.
Yes, I was referring to that.
Then the watchlist is useless… so I have to stick on the tagging workaround to have a way I can list my media that I want to watch.
This is for Plex team: Remember we own a Plex server to handle our media, otherwise we will use any service provider apps and get rid of server management.
Are there plans to work with ROKU on this? please update on this.
as i have ONLY ROKU tvs. this would then really eliminate the use of the watchlist for me. where i do the most watching online.
I like the feature but see a problem. Moonknight is under my watchlist and episode 1 is available on Disney +. Episode 2 is out since yesterday and the watchlist is not showing that is available. Same issue with the new episode of Picard.
