I’ve been waiting for this feature - but I can’t figure out how to do what I want
All I want to do is add a bunch of shows from streaming sources (like Hulu, HBO Max, etc) to my Watchlist, and easily see if there are new episodes I haven’t watched and click to play them. However, I just see entire shows themselves in the list, clicking on them shows me all of the seasons - and I don’t see an easy way to just see if there are new episodes released that I haven’t yet watched of these shows, and just watch them.
Can someone point me in the right direction, or consider this a feature request if it does not exist? Thanks!
I really love these new discovery features, but I’m in the same situation.
After some quick tests using a VPN, I noticed that switching back and forth between two different regions will actually unselect the streaming services in Settings that aren’t common to the these two regions.
@BigWheel and others at Plex, is it expected behavior? It would be very nice if it could remember what was previously selected when changing regions, even if some services aren’t currently available where you are.
It’s for public by default. Since it isn’t visible to you, you can try this mentioned on their blog:
“…you will find it rolling out on your client today! And if you’re an early bird and you don’t see it yet, make sure you’re on the latest app release, wait an hour or two, close and restart your client, and it should be available shortly.”
We don’t show services that are not avail in region but I was not aware of an issue of it becoming deselected if you changed regions. I will let team know
I think that claim sounds a bit silly. People generally create user profiles for each member of the family, not just kids. And with Plex having an admin account (unlike other streaming services), I’m definitely not letting anyone else access it. Ergo, that account is strictly for server management and maintenance and everyone uses their dedicated profiles to access content on the server.
I second the idea of having the ability to turn recommendations on/off for managed users at admin level.
A feature I really hoped and waited for a very very long time.
I am from Germany, Europe and all trailers are in English. With some trailers I also have only sound and a black picture on my LG TV (webOS latest version).
Is it planned that you can customize the elements like on the other sites? I find the trailers above super unimportant / unnecessary.
And is the whole thing planned for managed accounts?
People generally just let the adults in the family make their own accounts. so they have their own username/password and can sign into a player app without the admin being around.
This is awesome! Kudos Plex! Absolutely fantastic service. Some things that I’d like to see added are:
Trakt.tv sync.
Ability to filter out movies that are only available with Ads. There are a ton of movies free with Ads, but I’m only interested in when they’re available WITHOUT ads.
Notification when a TV Show or Movie from your watchlist is available on one of the selected services, but also when additional seasons of a tv show are available.
Link with other media platform libraries (Emby, Kodi, etc.) - Yea, I know this is probably not realistic.
Ability to identify which services I subscribe to so they can be prioritized above other services.
The thing I like most so far is being able to search for any film and if it’s not in my personal collection you can see the purchase/rent cost options from all the main services.
Hopefully more customisation of the discover page will come in time. Would like to be able to lose the trailers and Top titles on other services (services I don’t have) making it much cleaner to see the content I want.
I’m having a hard time understanding how anyone would opt for having several individual users within a single household – each with their own username & password – to access a single server, when this can be done via managed users? Then again, I’ve been a Plex Pass user for so many years that I can no longer remember which features are free vs. paid.
I would love the ability to disable any of the not selected services in search results as I dont have them. Why would I want to see whats on them if I have no interest of using them.
It sounds like you might already be tracking this, but please do add some kind of “override” for region selection, so that power users can add feeds from multiple regions. I’m an American living in Germany and routinely watch content via streaming services via smart DNS and/or VPN. I need to be able to add Hulu, and BBC iPlayer, and US Netflix, and also German Netflix, for example. (Can I suggest maybe a little country flag next to the service name, to differentiate?)
Having that said, I really really don’t understand why it’s not available to managed accounts. Or you need to re-clarify what we should / shouldn’t use managed accounts for. As a lot of others, I have myself, my partner and parents as managed accounts. So 90% of my Plex usage. A lot of Plex pass features in the past would only be available to managed accounts compared to invited friends (and that makes sense), but now this one is the opposite
