Fire OS Insignia TV not playing preroll or movies, TV working fine

I’m troubleshooting a friend’s setup and trying to figure out the issue. He is streaming from my Unraid server, of which I have a few users that have no issues streaming. Internet on the client network is getting 400mbps down, 600mbps up and the Insignia TV we’re looking at is connected to wifi. Here are the stats:

Fire OS 6.2.8.6
Fire TV Home Version 6341067.1

TV and Plex app have been updated to the latest builds. My server has a preroll that plays before movies, but the experience we see from this client is the following:

  • Start a title, starts immediately
  • Title stops after maybe 10 seconds, Plex app resets and sends us back to the Plex home page

For comparison, all TV loads instantly and plays without issue. Has anyone experienced something like this? Thanks in advance.

Try disabling the pre-roll video.

You are not the only one experiencing the problem. Plex is aware of it.
