Yes it should the issues mentioned with rewinding after starting playback, as well as looping midstream and endless buffering. The 90 minute drop out issue should also be resolved if it’s looping at the 90 minute mark / when the server starts pruning the segments (this might have another issue in the server side).

Builds for Live TV can be found below, the new playback stack in this build has only been enabled for Live TV playback and won’t impact normal playback from Plex Media Server or Plex content.

300 second bug: Using the Firestick 4k with Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD, 1080i content and transcode interlaced turned ON while playing at original quality I can confirm the above fix has played for longer than 300 seconds.
It seems to load channels a little faster. Could be just my imagination.
90 minute bug: Using the Firestick 4k with xTeVe playing progressive content on original quality the above fix has played longer than 90 minutes.

I can confirm it plays beyond 300 seconds. So that bug appears to be squashed.
- There appears to be a new bug where I can’t fast forward to live after rewinding.
- Also, I still have the bug where I can’t switch from one channel to the next. It crashes back to the guide and I need to tune to the channel again to get it to play. This happens every time.
- The new logging appears to be missing items also. It doesn’t show the 0000##.ts file it opening. That part was helpful I think. Can you add it back?

Looping issue and/or crashing to guide after 300s is fixed in this build on shield64. Yay!
Can’t speak to any other usability issues with build as we are currently using ESPN app for basketball. Will report back if any other issues tonight when we are switching between channels.

I’m not seeing any crash in your logs, did it display an error when you changed channel? Would you be able to replicate the issue again, wait a few minutes before switching channels and note the time you switched, if you can reshare the logs I can take a look.
Will see if I can replicate the rewinding and fast forwarding back to the live position issue.

Looking at the logs, it appears that when switching channels, the player is not resetting the event time and media position back to 0. It is trying to play channel 7.1 using the event time and media position that were left over from channel 6.1.

It’s not your imagination, it’s more noticeable with Plex Media Server content (not available yet) but time to start up has been greatly improved.
This happens when the tuner failed to switch channels, as playback now starts faster there might be an issue attempting to playback before it’s fully turned. Will have a look into this.
Will take a look at the other issue, that should of fixed in the build above.

I also should have mentioned that the Error every time switching channels is not due to today’s release. It has been like this for a few stable releases. I’m not exactly sure which release it started on. I can try to run a few different releases to narrow down when it started.

I did go back through some old versions and the most recent one I could find that didn’t crash when switching channels was 8.10.0.21911 from December 2020. Thats probably too far back to be able to do any source code comparisons as too much has probably changed.

Just need to find a way to sort out the buffering when watching a current recording from the beginning. Which still happens even with this build installed!

Do any of the beta releases address the guide search issue?
Excuse my ignorance, what guide search issue are you referring too?
@sixones Do you know if the issue with watching recordings currently in progress and the buffering happening is being looked at, or isn’t even on a timescale of being sorted?
The guide search issue is only Plex Web can you search for a programme and it shows up. If you use Plex for Android and search for a programme it will not show up. Even if you have a recording set and it’s in the EPG.
