Fire stick will only access over indirect connection after waking up from sleep

Just bought a Fire Stick, works great with Plex except when I turn it on after it’s been unused/asleep for a while. Upon starting it up and launching Plex it tries to access the server over an indirect connection. It works fine but of course reduces the quality and uses my data limits. I’ve tried to let it sit a couple of minutes to let it try and discover the server locally again but the only way I’ve found to fix it is to reboot the Fire stick device. Once it comes back up it works fine. I’d really love to disallow indirect connections period from this device so someone doesn’t accidentally access it this way but Plex is nearly optionless within the app. Anyone else have this issue?

I should also mention that I have a recently purchased Fire TV that I bought for another TV that doesn’t have this issue. My Sony TV with locally installed Plex app also doesn’t have the problem.

See second half of this thread:

I see the same thing… On a remote fire stick, it seems to only connect via Plex Relay (shown as connecting via “127.0.0.1 - Plex Relay” in Tautulli) until the fire stick is rebooted then it does make a direct connection as expected…
