Player Version#: 8.21.1.27073, 2nd Gen Fire TV Cube
I’m getting “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again” on most of my library as of yesterday, much like the OP of this Reddit thread:
But updating the server from 1.24.0.4930 to 1.24.1.4932 did not resolve this for me like it did for them. I’ve also tried restarting the Cube itself.
Occasionally when I try playing the movie I wanted to watch before I discovered this issue, it will go to the playback screen and I can see the buffer fill up on the progress bar, but nothing happens when I press play and seeking around doesn’t start playback either
There hadn’t been a server or client update before I started having issues or any changes to my network settings. There are a few things that still can play - mostly cartoons, at first making me think it was some parental controls bug even though I don’t have parental controls turned on, but not every cartoon plays and a few things with higher ratings still play.
There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme and reason to file size, name, format, codec, etc to explain what plays and what doesn’t.
Playback is still fine for everything I’ve tried on my Android phone. Casting from the phone app to the Fire TV doesn’t work any better.
