Fire TV stops playback with error

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7571

I have a Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Over the past couple of days, I’ve have sporadic issues with playing movies. These movies are local. Nothing too big, just some 1080p (1.8 Mbps) videos.

I’ve recreated the issue, and have attached the logs.

At 20:11, I experienced what I would consider a “buffer” type behavior. The screen goes black, with the exception of a yellow spinning circle. The movie then resumes.

At 20:17, the video playback stopped, with the error: “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.” I can immediately restart the video without issue, although the “buffering” and stopped playback persists sporadically.

I’ve speed checked the Fire TV, and it’s certainly sufficient (194 Mbps).

I cannot replicate it on any other player in the home. Just this Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It’s fairly new, but I wasn’t experiencing this issue from day one. It’s just recently (past couple of days).

I’m having the same issue. I’ve looked all over the internet for a solution. This is my last stop before returning the fire stick. It’s the only device with this issue. Everything else playback is fine

I’ve tried every obscure setting I found on various websites (mostly Reddit) with no change. I’m working on it still at 1am but decided to mute the volume so my wife could sleep. I also turned on subtitles, as soon as I turned on subtitles it reloaded and plays without error. I turned them off and playback fails within 1-2 min. I turned them back on and it plays seemingly without issue. I’ve tried a couple different files so far and it’s held true. Turning subtitles on stops playback from failing.
