I just got a new Amazon Fire TV Cube. Downloaded and installed the Plex app, connected to my Plex server running on a Synology DS218+. Set it up to direct play everything (that’s how all the other Plex apps I have – on my smart TVs and an NVIDIA Shield are set up). However, every single video that I try to play is getting transcoded. Doesn’t matter the resolution or the format…it even is transcoding an H264 video to H264. The Plex app on my other devices play the same video with no transcoding. Is there a problem with the Amazon app? I’m forced to only watch Plex in the other rooms because this thing just sits there transcoding.
If you have ‘Adjust Automatically’ engaged - it’s an instant transcode.
If, while you’re in there disabling Adjust Automatically, you enable Display Information - then if a transcode occurs - disable The New Player - Display Information will tell you why the transcode is occurring - and you may be able to change another setting that’s causing it… hopefully.
I dont have that turned on.
then enable Display Information and disable the New Player - so you can see what’s causing the transcode (without having to drill for it - and be disappointed).
