Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023 version) No Video on 4K content

I’ve seen several post about the Fire TV Stick 4K Max not being able to play video (black screen with audio playing) on 4K movies from a Plex server, but none of the posts I found had a solution posted before the topic auto-closed. It seems to be an issue with the app on the Fire TV Stick. It stream 4K content from other streaming services without issue. I’ve tried clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling the Plex app, and my network speed test are consistently over 300Mbps.

Oddly enough, the plex app (Ver. 5.1.2 from July 4th 2022) on the 7 year old TV the Fire TV Stick is plugged into plays the 4K movies just fine.

Is this a known issue with Fire TV Stick 4K Max’s? Did I miss a solution posted somewhere? (My apologies if I did.) Any other troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated.

I was experiencing this and then noticed some of my 4K movies were Dolby Vision (DoVi) which my tv could not display. I got audio, no video. All components have to be compliant to play DoVi files.

It’s supposed to be fixed in some recent beta client update.

Thanks for the reply. I know my TV and Plex can handle the file since I can sign into Plex on my TV and play the movie back without issue. It seems to be an issue with either the Fire TV Stick or the version of Plex app on the Fire TV Stick…

O.K, glad this isn’t just me then, but instead I get a Bright pink screen and audio playing. on my 2021 firetv 4k max
