Fire TV Stick 4k passthrough audio fix

Server Version#: 4.100.1
Player Version#:6440287.1
THE ISSUE:
I’m writing this to help anyone who encounters this issue. Last night, my wife and I sat down to watch a movie (personal media). I opened the plex app and got a pop-up “Want to enable pass through audio?” followed by some warning that it may cause distortion in some cases. Not knowing what pass through audio is, I though “why not try it?”. Huge mistake.
When starting the movie there was NO audio. So I backed out of plex and noticed that there was no audio feedback on button presses on the firetv stick. Wow. I had really waxed the audio. So I checked another app (Disney+) - still no navigation button click audio - but their movie had audio and everything worked. So now I had some clues. It’s related to plex but still affecting the 4k stick.
After too much searching I found out how to turn off pass through audio.
THE FIX:
In the plex app on the fire tv stick, scroll down on the left to the very bottom (under … More) and click on “Settings”. Scroll down in settings (past the things that say “audio”) until you see “ADVANCED” - click on the first (leftmost) circle there. You’ll see a screen that says “Audio passthrough” click on “Disabled”.
After all that, I exited the plex app and rebooted my firetv4k stick to restore the button click audio . It’s possible you don’t need to reboot to fix Plex’s audio, but I did this to be sure.
Plex developers: I’m a software developer with more than 35 years experience, so believe me when I say: It’s a bad idea to give users a pop-up to toggle an advanced feature that many of them will not understand and have a hard time fixing.

Didn’t realise firetv 4k supported passthrough…

The Max version maybe.
