FireTV 'Playback Error'

Server Version#: 1.104.0.241-2164c90a
Player Version#: 10.24.0.2257

When playing music, particularly lossless/HD tracks, via the app on a Fire TV 4k stick, we consistently receive ‘playback’ error popups. They’re random. The only way to fix the issue is to reboot the FireTV. Upon reboot and replaying the same album, the ‘playback error’ will appear again, but not on the same track. It is random.

These tracks play fine via the IOS app or web browser on a Windows PC or the Windows app.

I’ve seen several posts over the years on these forums with similar issues related to the app on FireTV. Anyone have any ideas?

Do any of the devs even watch or respond to these channels?

Thoughts on this?

The buffer on those fire devices is fairly small. Filling that buffer definitely causes issues. There’s no fix.

I’ve seen similar on a 4k FireTV stick, more often than not when the stick has been left powered up for a while (separate USB power supply), I turn on the TV again and try to start playing stuff of Plex again. For me, it then fails to play any files, popping up tonnes of ‘playback’ errors as it goes through whatever playlist/album etc.

Upon forcing the Plex app to stop and restart it will resolve the matter, it will then happily play everything again.

FWIW I have the FireTV permanently powered up via a separate USB power supply to give a prompt start up.
I also use a FireTV cube (2nd Gen) in the other room, which never has this problem.
