Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#: 8.19.2.26377
I’ve recently changed my server hardware from a very old Mac Mini to a 4GB Raspberry Pi. Since doing so the playback on my TV - which is accessing Plex on a a Firestick (not the 4K version) has been riddled with buffering.
All seems to be OK with the server, and playback on the same home networks on my iPhone X is fine, and doesn’t buffer at all.
I’ve started a new media library and only populating it with higher quality media. The issues I’m facing are not restricted to any one media file, but the one I’m trying to watch right now is 4.29 GB, 10.7 Mbs MKV.
My home network runs way beyond 10.7 Mbs, so struggling to know what the issues is.
I’ve researched the various streaming sticks and none mention the Firestick as being problematic/not having enough grunt to handle higher quality/larger video files. And if it’s running OK on an iPhone it feels like a Plex client issue.
EDIT: some further Googling has revealed that the Firestick Plex app may be a tad wanting, but these were posts from over 5 years ago, and the types of files that we’re being cited as being troublesome were similar to mine. Has this not been fixed?
Any ideas?
Many thanks
