Firestick not always playing next episode from playlist

I am also experiencing this. It did start recently. I really do not want to roll back on every device because that is a pain and I have 4 Fire Sticks. Hopefully they see this thread and just fix it.

Hey, sorry this question has probably been asked and answered a thousand times but I can never seem to find the right info. How exactly does one roll back the version of the app? I also have a FireTV. Not having to constantly stop what I’m doing to reset Plex would be wonderful.

It is easiest done on a PC. I used a program called ADB Link on my PC to connect to the tv. https://www.smarthomebeginner.com/install-configure-adblink-for-amazon-fire-tv/ are the instructions on how to do it. Also you will need to find the APK file for Plex, preferably version 8.11.0.22186. Make sure you uninstall Plex from the TV first.

Same issue here and have been having issues with auto-continuing in Plex for at least 6 or 7 years and it’s progressively gotten worse. I’m using Chromecast on most of my TV’s and other other one is a smarttv. I thought it may be due to the platform I was on, so recently I took it off my virtual server running windows 7 and built out an Ubuntu linux PC (non-virtual). Issue is still present. I’ve had it continue once in the playlist since I migrated to Linux which is the same as prior when it was on Windows 7.

I found that a couple of movies on the specific playlist had corruption issues, so I removed them and re-ripped them from my DVD collection. All movies on my server have been validated and are not corrupt.

What I have noticed. If I forward to the end of the movie while it’s playing, the next item continues immediately and works as expected. However, if I let the movie play all the way through off the playlist, there’s a 1% chance it will continue. It appears that it’s a timing issue, the longer it plays, the more likely it won’t change on it’s own.

I’ve posted this issue a few times on here over the years but there’s been no resolution. I’ve even posted a debug log twice. But even when I look at the debug log, I’m not seeing anything that sticks out as an issue.

It’s almost like plex loses connection to the TV/Chromecast during the playback then it doesn’t know where to play (which Chromecast) the next movie in line…

None of my other services have issues like Netflix, Fubo, or Disney. I’m also a network engineer and programmer so I’m certain my network is good.

I’ve been updating over the years as I go. I am on the current version and will be at any point in time.

So… WHATS THE POINT OF HAVING PLAYLISTS OR QUEUES IF THEY DON’T WORK?? Yes, I’m pissed off. Looks like I’m going to look at Emby.

I’ve posted about this issue multiple times over the last month or so.

The only response I ever saw was an employee saying the problem is hard to duplicate.

The size of this thread would indicate that the problem is not that difficult to duplicate

I use to turn off the new player and it help resolve some things but now you can’t even do that. Watching tv series sucks. Playlists are a joke and shuffle is crap. I don’t want to have to back out and go back in every damn episode. Get the fire tv app fixed plex! I have a variety of fire tv units all updated and all of them have the same issues. Player counter going negative not playing next video some movies crash app to reload. I been a long time user and have the lifetime but every time I see an update I get excited but they have not updated fire tv fixes ! I hope an admin sees this and really takes an interest in this thread. Fire tv is broke as ■■■■ and needs help.

Is this still an issue? I rolled back to 8.11 to turn off the new player months ago, wondering if this is fixed and safe to update.

At this point, we’ll know when it’s solved because there will be parades in the streets like the end of WWII. I’m not sure if we even know whether they’re working on this bug or not.
