Exact same problem here. Two Plex Servers, 1 on Windows and 1 on QNAP giving the same problem. Works fine on all Plex clients except Firestick 4k!
Very frustrating! I have tried all the usual remedies…
Not sure if this is the right place but I’m having the same issue on my Nvidia Shield.
My Plex server runs off a QNAP
I can connect AND play from my iPhone or chrome browser on multiple computers. So I know the Plex server on the QNAP is working fine.
But when using the client on my Nvidia shield (which uses apps from the Google Play Store) , I can see the content but cannot start any streams.
I get the error:
An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.
If I uninstall all the Plex app updates and it goes back to the original version of the Plex client everything works. Old original bad interface. But if I try to use the latest app version from the play store I get the above error.
Plex client version running on Nvidia Shield is version 8.19.4.26517
Hi again. I solved the problem for my Firestick 4k by deleting all of the codecs under the Plex Media Server config folder. Plex then downloads the codecs again.
I uninstalled Plex on my PC and installed the previous version (1.23.3.4707) and all issues were fixed on Fire Stick for me. You might try that if you don’t want to mess with file deletion.
The solution is very simple, I had this same problem. My server that runs PLEX is a Synology 1821+. I just had to manually update the Plex media server software and problem solved! You do not need to revert back to 8.12 on firestick. just update the media server software.
mine is on a WD my home cloud so i cant reinstall it. it’s done automatically via WD.
If it’s a case plugging the stick into the PC and deleting the Plex codecs i can do this.
