First failed server auto-update (After upgrading to PMS 64bit)

I’ve been using Plex for many years and today had my first failed server upgrade. I believe this is my first auto-update since manually running the 64bit PMS installer.

I’m not sure what is normal logs verbosity but poking around the logs, I’m seeing errors like:

[6968] ERROR - Sync: failed to get status for sync list 63976406, sync item 49806005
[4188] WARN - [DatabaseFixups] Held transaction for too long

I use the Plex Service utility to run PMS at startup - updates worked without issue with 32bit PMS, and has to be updated manually with 64bit. I had to move Plex over the weekend and read on the Plex Service doc that the upgrade path is to manually stop the service > run the installer > start the service.
Maybe this is by design… just odd that it worked automatically with 32 bitness.

In which case you will have to update this utility first. It simply isn’t aware of a 64bit server version unless you update it.

I tried that when I had to reload/migrate the server this weekend after a boot drive failure.

Fresh install of Win10 OS, fresh install of 64bit PMS and latest version of Plex Service utility.

Then a new version of PMS released (yesterday) but auto-update failed. I manual update without issue.

Same for me, I was using plex service about 4 months ago but stopped for two reasons

  1. I wanted to move to 64 bit. - All my crashes stopped.
  2. the service can not take advantage of hardware transcoding.

I don’t think you can use auto-updates with the service wrapper.

I can only point you to this thread where a user is reporting that it worked for him: Auto-update broken after switching to 64 bit

So i’m not saying I resolved the issue but I defenetly found a problem I’m currently deleting 100gigs of 12kb files…Setup Plex.html.tmp.016bcac3-c5bf-441b-bab6-2aed71165a7b
