Server Version#: 1.29.1.6316 (64bit)
Player Version#: NA
Downloaded 1.29.2.6334 and attempted to apply it. When reconnecting the server the version has not updated and the Download Updates prompt is still highlighted. I select it and it immediately is there so the download worked but the update did not
Edit: Restarted the Server and Windows, applied the update without success.
I replied to your Plex Forum email and included the logs. it failed. Here’s the info:
I shut down the server for a minute. I downloaded 1.29.2.6334, applied the update at 18:31 my time and the web page was left for 5 minutes to allow the update plenty of time to install. Usually updates take no more than a minute or two. When I retried the connection the site came up and displayed version 1.29.1.6316
Your logs show that PMS restarted at 18:31 and was on for about 6 minutes. That’s when you grabbed the logs. Are you sure you ran the installer and not the PMS executable?
I re-did the process with time hacks for clarity below. I PM’d the logs:
0943 Shut down PMS
0944 https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/ reported no content available
0946 Restarted PMS
–it took about 30 seconds for the web page to show PLEX back online
–Waited to normalize
0953 went to Settings – General and downloaded and applied the update version 1.29.2.6334
– Waited 5 minutes to give the update time to apply (this usually only takes about a minute)
0958 Retried the connection since the successful update notice had not appeared and Settings - General reported version 1.29.1.6316 and was still saying I could download the new version
1000 Downloaded the log files
The above error in the log can be safely ignored. It has nothing to do with the issue at hand.
Do a manual update.
Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows
(do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
do not use “Registry Cleaner/optimizer” software like CCleaner et al. Disable them if you have tools of that kind sitting in the background.)
for safety, reboot Windows
download the installation exe of the 64 bit version and install it

From your logs I see this error. You are running the 64-bit version of PMS. Can you check the details tab of Task Manager to see if “Plex Update Service” is also the 64-bit version (x64)? If not, kill it and restart PMS. That should load the 64-bit version and update properly in the future.
It is the 64-bit version. This is the first time updates had failed for me since the 64-bit Beta came out. Otto’s solution worked fine, but in following it I may have also solved the installer problem. Thanks guys
