In the Xbox settings under audio you probably have bitstream enabled and the output set to DTS. That means the Xbox is decoding all audio, mixing in the audio for the system (ie. Dashboard), converting it to DTS and sending it to the receiver. The Xbox will never send just the native audio stream from the app, movie, game to the receiver since it needs to mix in the audio for the system (notifications, dashboard, etc). Because of this, i'd rather avoid the extra encode step so i just set it to output multichannel 5.1 PCM.
Dude, PMS has never...ever...allowed an update that is plexpass only to ever work that way, they dont want people updating to plexpass versions automatically as that would bork the non plexpass users...
Does the Plex Pass version update to new Plex Pass PMS versions automatically using the built in check? Or am I required to manually update it every time? Just curious, because before this release I was running the Non Plex Pass version of PMS....
The screenshot on the Plex blog shows the buttons on the bottom of the screen, but they're not appearing on the app. I also can't seem to find any settings menu, does one exist? I'm most interested in an audio boost setting, the volume seems to be very low currently.

Thanks!

The screenshot which included "buttons on the bottom" was of the Xbox 360 application, not the Xbox One one. We currently don't support Audio Boost on the Xbox One application but I will add it to the list of features for a future update.

Its working perfectly for me- its a massive improvement over airplaying from iOS as i was doing before!
I agree with an earlier poster that navigation would be easier in a big collection if there were a list view available, or if we could sort by categories.
A nice feature would be if the ‘on deck’ and ‘recently added’ sections could show up in the app channels on the One Guide.
i reinstaled from https://forums.plex.tv/topic/123492-frequently-asked-questions/
still dont work
Is your Xbox One via optical connected to your reciever and you have your audiosettings to Bitstream DTS? If so, everything will be send as DTS to your receiver.
I have my Xbox One connected via HDMI to my receiver and my audiosettings are on Uncompressed 5.1. When you're connected via HDMI, you should never use Bitstream
I use HDMI from my XB1 to my receiver. I changed XB1 settings to output 7.1 Uncompressed. Now, playing that same file with 2.0 AAC audio, the receiver says the signal is PCM and the sound is "Multi Ch In" with all of the speakers activated. Playing the same file on the FireTV with PleXBMC—also over HDMI—correctly shows a PCM signal with Stereo sound. The Xbox is clearly not passing through audio unmolested.
For those having issues connecting to the server after having gone and upgraded to the latest version, make sure you quit out of Plex on the X1 and re-open it. X1 will keep Plex in memory so you have to quit and re-launch it. Also if you connecting over a dual band wireless router, make sure the X1 and your server are on the same SSID.
Also, my own quick observations on the browsing:
1. The items it shows in the "New releases" section seem to be random. They do not reflect the actual top items in the new releases.
2. No browse by genre? Only way I could do this was to pick a movie, then from there I could select browse more like this genre.

This is an issue with the xbox one...if you select surround it will put blanks in the unused channels...Plex and the devs can't fix this issue
I would recommend if it bothers you a lot (you need dolby pro logic) connect the optical also and set that to output pcm stereo...you can switch to it when you are outputting stereo content

Hey,
Just to comment on your observations:
1) Correct. We decided to use "Random" so that this category was "fresh" every time you went to it. It's hoped that it will occasionally remind you of something that you might not have watched, rather than always being the same set (until you add something new). If you want to see it in order, select the "..." button.
2) Filtering is not yet supported. We'll be adding this in a future release...

Can't find the app anywhere in the store, is the app only available in the us?
Can someone please comment on how the XB1 client works with the Plex remote for Android or iOS?

Good to know. I've never used the XB1 for anything other than games, so I hadn't noticed the issue prior to today.

Yeah its a pain but thats how they mix in the sound effects...unfortunately a large amount of my library is stereo so i hope they have a solution to this at some point...would be really cool if they could apply pro logic on the xbox before they even pass the sound over
It’s Beautiful And There’s Jump To Letter.
Enough said better then home theater.
Really like the design of the app, nice work
I’m having trouble getting anything to play though, after hitting play it just leaves me with a black screen. Tried different Videos with a bunch of different audio/video formats, nothing showed up… all of them work on my phone, tablet and pc.
Updates my server, have the latest xb1 preview.
Which part of which log would be needed for possible troubleshooting? Thanks

That is an odd choice! The "New Releases" section is the only thing I use. In-fact I wish I could set the Plex client to just show the last 20 "New Releases" on startup (but that's just my use case). Random does me no good ever!
That being said I usually use my phone to play stuff remotely though it's Plex app (not sure what the Plex phrasing is.. "casting" maybe?) and the Android app's "New Releases" section is proper and really useful.
I guess why do it differently from one app to the next?
I also want to take this opportunity to say how good the Android app became after the last update. Very very good work!
i like the app very much, the only strange thing i experience is that when i play a tv show without subtitles it plays absolutely fine but when i select any subtitle
(english or dutch doesnt matter wich one)
the video stops every 10sec. for a second or 2??
does anyone know what could be the problem here??
the preview app of the xbox one doesnt support subtitles either so maybe it's related??
