Same problem here, can't play anything right now. I'm also using a synology ds212J. Hope to get a fix soon, got a plex pass for this app
It’s very nice, and again the jump to Letter is a God send.
It’s impressive for a first release.
Two things. First it would be Awesome to have an option to widen the screen, removing letter box.
Also I hsve it at the highest quality. but there’s some pixel look, I noticed on Lord of the Rings, but that’s a blu ray rip, might be Mkv. That’s not fully supported yet I believe.
Quality setting is Highest.
So .MKV isn't fully supported? Even with Oktober Preview Update?
I get the same thing with my mkv files that are over 20mbps bitrate. Anything that is under shows the "highest" setting.
I'm sorry you're experiencing this... it might be best to create a separate forum post for specific bugs, it's hard to answer everyone in a single forum like this :) It sounds like the video can not be direct played by the Xbox One application and is attempting to transcoder. I'm also guessing that your Synology NAS is ARM based and therefore can't transcode? Would that make sense?
Ian
Ok, I'll create a separate forum post and ask the questions there. :)
Thanks!
Got home and got everything setup pretty quickly.
I really like the UI and everything plays 100% so great job PLEX TEAM!
I'm not worried about Direct Play as I have a dedicated fast server for transcoding.
I was surprised that it doesn't show up in any of my apps to be able to be remote controlled. Every other PHT install I have shows up in my Android app almost immediately.. This is kind of a big deal especially since this is my main entertainment system and I don't want to be yelling at my TV after my kids go to bed. Still, I'm going to try and use the voice commands in the meantime, but if that proves to be annoying I may have to abandon this setup. It's sad that nothing seems to be a perfect solution. SUCH IS LIFE!
Then I got to thinking that it may not even be possible for an Xbox One app to broadcast itself over your network to be able to be controlled. IS THIS POSSIBLE? If so IS IT ON THE ROAD MAP to add?
If it's not possible it might be cool/possible to be able to control it with SmartGlass. I'm just not sure how far down the rabbit hole the dev team is willing to go.

It's not "impossible" but it's definitely more difficult than normal due to the network permissions we have as an application. That's why it wasn't included in this first preview release. Don't worry though, this feature is planned and we'd all love to see the Xbox One application fully remote controllable...
Ian
I'm also looking forward to see remote control. Great job so far. It should be controllable via Smart Glass... I know Netflix is. The SmartGlass control is very strange though... You swipe instead of having directional keys, which I don't like in a remote control.
I just want to say I love you guys at Plex right now. I've kind of been a bit critical of the direction Plex has gone over the last few years because as a Mac user I didn't think the desktop client was getting enough attention, and I didn't really like the skin of PHT (Refocus is still the best desktop skin). That changed over the last few months, as I saw a number of improvements that gave me a lot of hope. Around the end of August / early September I saw enough of a change, IMO, that I made the leap and plopped down the money for a lifetime Plex Pass membership. I was fine with where Plex was last month. I was happy.
But now that I've seen what you guys have been up to with this Xbox One app, I'm OVERJOYED. The skin is beautiful. The navigation is probably the best of any Plex client. It fits beautifully in with my current Xbox One setup (TV, games, Netflix, CBC, and shortly the NHL app). It sort of makes my Mac Mini useless. The transcoding issues will hopefully work themselves out, but even with having to transcode it's an amazing experience.
I seriously could not be thankful at the product you guys have put together for the users. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.
Thank you for the plex app.

Enjoying the app so far, works like a charm.
Is there anyway to filter, I usually use a filter for unwatched items but can’t find a way to do that yet.
Thanks for the app!

Not having a lot of luck with the app so far but I suspect that is due to not being able to direct play MKV files. The transcoder seems to be causing 100% CPU usage when attempting to play mkv files

I'm sorry, but at the moment filtering is not supported in the preview. It will be added in a future update.

you can direct play MKV.
No you can't.
Hi Ian, is there a way to change the subtitle size? They are currently very small for my eyes, especially if the aspect ratio is wider than 16:9.
Thank you!

The h264 video should at least be Direct Stream, so the 100% CPU usage is interesting.
Even h.264 won't Direct Stream. Everything is being transcoded.
Problem connecting. Updated server edition to 0.9.10.3 on Win 8.x no problems. XB1 app does not connect, displays Plex logo and spinning connection bit. Tried restarting XB1 console, same outcome.
Any help?
I have posted some issues throughout the forum, but I wanted to say here how much I love this coming out. I never expected it to be honest and it makes that lifetime membership all the better deal. Good work!
