It’s known that some LG smart TVs have problems resetting auto sign-in feature every reboot. Later on found this is not just a sign-in issue, but actually the Plex app can’t remember any settings changed by users.
Some says similar bugs should’ve been fixed a long time ago, but I can clearly say this is not the case for some users. I’d like to have Plex dev take a look into this problem and report to the community that what went wrong. It’s a shame that many users left behind are forced to abandon the official app and resort to third-party apps.
Here is a list of other threads calling for the same or at least similar issues.
My In-laws in FL stopped watching because they got tired of contacting me to remind them how to re-link their accounts.
(They’re not at all techie, even for something as ‘simple’ as a ‘visit this page, type in this code’ instruction.
Now that I see this post, I’m pretty sure it’s do to this. All this time I thought it was just LG.
@JamminR do you know what device/os version your in-laws having this issue with? Mine is LG PF1500W projector with webOS 3.00.17. The folks in the Amazon review above was with LG PF1000UW projector presumably with the same OS.
@tomyun - No. And sorry, and I’m not going to ask them. I’d be lucky to get the model number from them in 30 minutes or less. If I wanted the webOS version, I’d be crying after an hour. (I like them, being in-laws and all, but, I mean really, they aren’t good with modern tech at all). The only thing I remember from the single visit I’ve had since they got it was it’s an OLED, and it’s at least 60 inches, probably 2 years old now.
@JamminR no problem at all. It’s still valuable to know there exist some other models experiencing the same issue. Hope Plex folks dive in and take a close look at them. I can’t believe there has been no single response from the dev so far.
Yeah just noticed this too. Got an LG OLED55C8PTA with firmware 4.10.06. Been running Plex with default settings for a while so I haven’t noticed it before, but I needed to change some stuff and it seems that upon quitting and reloading it nothing gets saved. Kinda disappointing that threads for this have existed for years with no response.
Also noticing this on my new OLED55C8PUA. I’m running firmware 04.10.15, WebOS version 4.1.0-5608 and Plex version 3.80.1. My issue is around making changes to the audio streaming defaults. My Sonos Playbar won’t support DD+ or DTS however it seems when I unselect those in audio settings, they get re-enabled randomly. Having to go back in over and over to disable them is so damn annoying!
It’s amazing, but not surprising to see this bug has not been taken care of since I posted it here almost three years ago. Of course I already gave it up a long time ago and moved on…
