Flirc and remote choice

I'm trying to figure out what remote to buy (or emulate - I have a universal remote) for all the preprogrammed options available in Rasplex, whatever they may be.  Is there a Wiki somewhere that says what Rasplex will respond to?

So far with HDMI-CEC, I only seem to make it work with:

up

down

left

right

enter

back

option (info page)

Are there any other codes that Rasplex knows?  HDMI-CEC seems buggy so I want to move to a traditional IR remote.  I already purchased the FLIRC, but don't know what remote to buy.

So far I'm seeing three recommended options in completely different extremes.

1) Default FLIRC (minimalist): https://flirc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202980419-How-to-set-up-Flirc

2) Medium: https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi-accessories/rpi-xbmc-remote

I don't even see an "info" button in that remote Modmypi sells! WTF?

3) Mucho buttons: (Any Harmony remote)

What is required for Rasplex?

Maybe this will help.  Here is the XBMC setup for FLIRC.

1) How many of these buttons does Rasplex understand?  That might help me decide how big a remote I need.

2) Other than mapping some random remote to these buttons, is there anything that needs to be done within Rasplex?  Any xml file editing?

Here is the link to all of the keyboard shortcuts that Plex Home Theater uses:

For flirc I set it to full keyboard and then map the buttons on my remote to those keys I want to use based on the above PHT keyboard shortcuts

Thanks.  I saw that.  Seems easier than editing XML files.

Is there any technical or reliability advantage of just using the Flirc (ie, taking the easy way out) vs the traditional method of wiring up a GPIO IR sensor, learning IR command or editing XML files?

What do most people do here?  I  plan on using an MCE remote because the smaller XBMC remotes don't have enough buttons for everything Rasplex seems to understand.  'Same reason I don't want to use CEC.  It seems limited.
