Folder is Empty

I am running my media server on Windows 11 and for some reason a new folder I just added won’t recognize the new media. When I complete the creation it says “Folder is Empty”

I tried as a tv series and other videos, neither worked. I must have over 50 tv series that work just fine but this one doesn’t want to find the files and I have verified they are there.

So you are on the right path.

The folder name is - d:\plex\season 01\Franklin & Bash\

The file name is - Franklin & Bash - E1 - Pilot.mp4

if I change the file name to - Franklin and Bash - S1E1 - Pilot.mp4. It works. I added S1 for season and removed the &. Why does that work?

I have Law & Order and that works just fine.

  1. Assuming that you added c:/plex to the library, that means that the overall folder level for the show is now “Season 01”. That is wrong.
  2. Plex requires you to always add the season and the episode number to file names together in a “code cluster”, like this: “s01e01”.
  3. The show folder should contain the (year) of when S01E01 was released
  4. movies and shows need to be separated in different storage locations. Don’t forget to direct the Plex series library to d:\plex shows, while the movie library remains at d:\plex

This means you need to do this:

d:\plex shows\Franklin & Bash (2011)\Season 01\Franklin and Bash - S01E01 - Pilot.mp4

I do have some separation.

d:\plex\Series
d:\plex\Movies
d:\plex\Christmas Movies
d:\plex\videos
d:\plex\NFL Football
d:\plex\Music
d:\plex\Music Videos
d:\plex\cartoons

I will need to go back and add year to the season. For most all of my episodes I have the episode season cluster out of luck from my recording tools.
