The problem I’ve got is I have set-up a library and this set-up as “Other videos”. For the admin account if I select folder view on the player or Google TV then it works, but I have another user defined on my Plex account and when I select “Folder” I’m told that the folder is empty. When I select “Movies” all the videos on the library appear. Actually “Folder” view does not work on any library for the additional user.
To re-iterate, “Folder” view works correctly for the primary admin Plex user.
Anyone know how I can get Folder view to work for all other users within a Plex account?
You need to remove any content restrictions you set for their profile ( whether by profile like Younger Kid or only allowing/excluding specific ratings ( PG, PG-13) or labels. Because we can’t control viewing the folder names which could potentially be something like “Debbie does Dallas” we don’t show anything to users with content restrictions in folder view. Meaning even if the other account does not have access to see the movie title Nymphomaniac or a porn movie title as examples, the folder would still be there if we did not restrict folder view
In that case I suggest a feature addition. Where the administrator of the Plex server can select an option to disregard labels and restrictions for any specific library to allow folders view to be used with an account that has restrictions and/or labels defined.
I have a Other Videos library that Plex is not sorting the way I need it to when Movies is selected but would be sorted/presented correctly under Folder view.
There is an issue with the Chromecast TV app. If the Folders option is selected then it is not possible to deselect this back to Movies. It’s not possible to select Folders to then select Movies.
