Hello,
added 1 TV show for my wife. TV show has 188 episodes. I found there are wrong thumbnails from episode 16 (see link with image). Problem is in all devices (TV, laptop, PC, mobile etc).
It appears the show has some poor metadata at the sources used by Plex to collect those information. On The Movie Database, only episodes 1-16 of season 1 have thumbs assigned to them – all subsequent episodes simply have no thumb at all. On TheTVDb it appears all episodes have the “duplicate” thumb you get to see from episode 17 onwards.
It appears Plex will attempt to find a thumb from different sources to cover for gaps as they appear on TMDB. It has no means to know that somebody on TVDb was a bit lazy and assigned the same image to all episodes
Long story short – not much you can do unless you’re willing to contribute missing thumbs to TMDb.
PS: next time, please include some reference to what show that is. This will help others to assist and avoid to identify the show based on the episode titles alone.
Plex will offer a few automatically generated thumbs in the poster/thumb selection for episodes. IIRC those will be automatically picked if there’s no other poster available – in your particular case the “duplicate” poster is actually “there”, hence Plex won’t automatically pick the other thumb. You’ll need to manually set/select those.
btw I tried to add screenshot to episode 7 on themoviedb.org
In plex server I refreshed metadata but I still don’t have screenshot downloaded from themoviedb.org.
