Is there a way to force the Title and Sort Title to be the same as the Original Title?
Also for the sort title, I added ArticleStrings="" at the end of the preferences.xml as I do not want plex to ignore articles when sorting. Is that the correct format for the string?
There is a library property called “Use original titles”. Activate it.
But think twice: this will give you japanese characters for a japanese film and cyrillic ones for a russian film.
Yes, that’s correct. But it will only work for items which are added the first time (or after a Plex Dance) to your library.
@OttoKerner I thought I had activated that setting already somewhere but now I can’t find it…
I am looking in the settings menu where it starts off with my account, online media sources, etc, and have scrolled down to “library” but cannot see a setting regarding titles at all. Am I looking in completely the wrong section?
Ahha! I found it, it is only in the manage library settings when adding or editing and only for the plex movie agent.
I am currently transitioning from Kodi and would like to use my existing Kodi nfos and artwork and I believe that if I use TMDB agent, I can set the agent order to be:
XBMCnfoMoviesImporter
Local Media Assets (Movies)
TMDB
Fanart.tv
Plex Movie (legacy)
However, for TMDB agent, there doesn’t appear to be an option to use original titles.
I am reluctant to start again especially when I know that TMDB doesn’t have the correct certification for a lot of my movies, which I have manually corrected in the nfos.
The nfos do have the original title and title the same, however, so if XBMCnfoMoviesImporter is working correctly, in theory, this should solve my problem, no?
The .nfo importer is unfortunately a dead end, because the old agent infrastructure on which it’s relying will be gone at some point in the future.
I can only recommend you to change your file organisation to something which is officially supported in Plex. Category : Your Media | Plex Support to ensure troublefree operation, going forward.
If there are errors in the metadata when using the new agents, please help fixxing these errors at their source, on the TheMovieDB.org and TheTVDB.com websites.
Ok, thanks for the heads up. I’m looking for speed to get this back up and running post transferring from Kodi, so will try the importer, to begin with.
As for the naming of files per that link you provided, on a 3rd party application site (I won’t name it), it suggested that the new plex agent can cope with file names (their recommended for their application) such as this: The Movie Title (2010) Ultimate Extended Edition [imdb-tt0066921][Surround Sound x264][Bluray-1080p Proper][3D][HDR][10bit][x264][DTS 5.1] - will the new infrastructure cope with that naming?
My folder names are simply the “original title” and year, with [certification] at the end, long story…
Changing that to The Movie Title (2010) - Ultimate Extended Edition [Surround Sound x264-Bluray-1080p Proper-3D-HDR-10bit-x264-DTS 5.1] {imdb-tt0066921}
might work though.
what about The Movie Title (2010) - Ultimate Extended Edition [Surround Sound x264][Bluray-1080p Proper][3D][HDR][10bit][x264][DTS 5.1] {imdb-tt0066921} - apparently their’s needs the properties in “[ ]” separately…
Nope. Plex only ignores content between the first pair of square brackets, so all the other stuff in the following brackets can again cause mismatches.
No. This was during the development of the agent. Only what is documented here https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/your-media/ can be considered “officially supported”.
Anything else can change, or has already changed.
“If there are errors in the metadata when using the new agents, please help fixxing these errors at their source, on the TheMovieDB.org and TheTVDB.com websites.”
That’s a lot of fixes that I already have in the nfos - Plenty of foreign movies don’t have the correct dates, certifications, etc.
Wow. I’ve been away from Plex for a couple years and hoped to continue using the NFO importer for my motorsports library. Lack of NFO functionality will be a deal breaker for me. Any other alternatives?
