On the plex server setting: Force video and audio setting for plex client.
This setting will lock video and audio settings for the server share.
In the setting we can select:
Video Quality: (480p, 720p, 1080p, Orignal)
Audio Quality
Direct play (Yes/No)
Allow to change the quality automatically: (Yes/No)
Also if possible:
Allow to do it for each user separately.
Why we need this setting?
Normally I would go in front of the device and do it for my family but whit the COVID-19 I cannot do it. So if we can manage this remotely it will be awesome.
If you are not sure about this feature:
Try to explain to your grandmother how to change setting in plex client.
I want the client to be able to downgrade if they have lag but I wish we could set the default setting for remote streaming from the server. Basically what you’re implying without “locking” it.
Similar to - Default All Clients to Max Internet Streaming

this would be useful if you have a certain relative who resets devices rather than restarting them

Yes, please. Sometimes my users get new TV’s, phones, tablets. They then complain about the quality being in SD. It also doesn’t help that each player, Roku, Firestick, etc., don’t all have the same steps to set these settings. So on some TV’s, I have to call them or FaceTime to walk them through the steps. This would be AMAZING.
