I would also like this as well. Mostly for my non computer literate relatives which just want to see one folder w/o having to click through and change from timeline, etc al.

This feature really is a must for any home video type stuff. Why hasnāt this at least been addressed?

Please give us the customize and save view settings, per library. Home Video, by folderā¦ Movies, defaulty showing all movies. TV Shows, by recently addedā¦ Each library is differentā¦ yet, we are powerless.

+1 for me to. Cant stand having to change to folder view and then list view every single time. Explaining it to other people is also very tedious. It cant be to hard to get it to default to folder view for all players.
No default views - massive oversight! Itās an annoyance that amplifies over timeā¦ as I repeatedly change the view EVERY GODDAMNED TIME I use Plex
5 years people keep bumping this up but nobody answered it lol.
after about 30 minutes of testing, the solution for firefox is to go into options > privacy & security > settings and uncheck the offline website data box. Your plex login should now at least save the folder view option for that browser.
You should also accept cookies from websites and keep until they expire. I would have thought that would be enough, but I guess the preferences are stored differently? Maybe a Plex web dev can change this to be more user friendly and/or store them server side with session data?
Iām now forced to use plex instead of serviio because this stupid media center of my box doesnāt support anything else, and Iām very furious to see that there isnāt a folder view!!! Itās a basic functionality, and I HATE those tiles and the default sortingā¦
I have everything organized by folder, like everyone does, and I canāt browse by folders and by file names only !
I even tried to delete these stupid thumbnails, but I couldnāt find a way to do it (the delete thumbnails button doesnāt do anything)ā¦ I tried the āhome moviesā trick, useless.
Actually Iām in front of PLEX and I donāt know where to find the file I want to findā¦ OMG.

It does save folder view but you have to change your browser settings to allow it.

Plex, Anyone home??? Why canāt I save the folder view under settings? I download TV content from Netflix to view later. Most shows are a series. Do you know how annoying it is to sort through all the content to find the next one to watch? This can not be hard to fix.

It isnāt hard. All you need to do is to name and organise your files like it is recommended for tv shows. Then Plex will not only fetch the right metadata for your series.
It will also track your progress through the episodes and seasons and will always offer you the next episode automatically when you open a plex client.
And then you wonāt need the folder view anymore.

Everything on my server is folder based. The Plex phone app needs to allow this to be set as a default option. End of story. Donāt tell me I need to reorganize or rename 1000ās of music files and movies to suit Plex. It has the ability to show folders, itās impossible to understand why the option to set that as default isnāt supported. After all these years? Please, Iāll pay for it. Just do it. Thank you.

My gosh, the biggest annoyance I have is continuously going thru a significant number of steps each time I logon to get to Folder View. The second biggest annoyance is that the company ignores these posts. They do not hesitate to send me frequent solicitations to pay for additional services.

Iām amazed that after all this time itās still not an option. I just tried again years later with the new interface and sure enough, still no default setting for this.
