[Forum Preview] Credits Detection for Plex Media Server

Any updates on this yet? i.e., an updated build

Will there be a way to only allow the credit skip for opening credits? Ie. Perhaps you just want to be able to skip opening credits and leave ending credits as are.

Library/Edit/Advanced

I gather YES

Totally missed that. That’s great.

Why i dont have this option?

this is how it looks to me

Is there a newer version now?

I just assumed it was a DVR TV library

You need to have DVR set up

Oh okay thanks!
What is the current development status? Will there be another pre-release for testing or is the next step open beta? And what is the approximate time frame for this? Some time ago I sent diagnostic files to which I unfortunately did not receive an answer and my suggestions and error descriptions above have also remained unanswered so far. My server continues to create the same credits every night during maintenance time or keeps trying the same files where no credits were previously recognized.

For me it was still not working (Synology DSM 7 64-bit). As I reported in my previous posts, the error I get it’s always the same:

ERROR - BufferingLineReader: failed to read line (error: -1)

I have now downgraded to the standard PMS version, also because of the constant notification that there is a PMS upgrade available even if the version is lower (bug?) .

Waiting for a new version to test it out

also because of the constant notification that there is a PMS upgrade available even if the version is lower (bug?) .

I noticed this as well, and at a guess I would say it is monitoring an address on the internet and keeping an eye on the latest version that is within it. As the version number on this alpha install does not match the latest version within the online path it assumes that it is needing to be upgraded.

Just a guess but the only thing that I can think of.

Running into the same issue over here - do you have the following error in your credits log file: ERROR - PeekNamedPipe failed: 0x6d ?

I haven’t found this error in my case… It looks like this for me, every night anew…

Thanks for this! Could you possibly share your entire docker-compose text? I have this but I don’t think it’s quite right yet:

version: "3.8"
services:
  plex:
    image: linuxserver/plex
    container_name: plexbeta
    network_mode: host
    environment:
      - PUID=MYID
      - PGID=MYGID
      - PLEX_DOWNLOAD="https://artifacts.plex.tv/plex-media-server-experimental"
      - VERSION="1.30.3.6509-ea6337004"
      - TZ=MYTIMEZONE
    volumes:
      - /volume1/docker/plex:/config
      - /volume1/data/media:/data/media
    devices:
      - /dev/dri:/dev/dri
    restart: unless-stopped

That’s exactly the same as what I have. What does your log output say? sudo docker-compose logs plexbeta

Seems there was a problem when it tried to update. Any advice?

I have installed the Synology installation and turned off my Docker container briefly just to test out the feature. In theory, could I run the detection to generate markers and then roll back to my earlier Docker build with the credit detection metadata still intact?

Ah, looks like you’re running into one of those fun issues with YAML files.

Try using either

      - PLEX_DOWNLOAD=https://artifacts.plex.tv/plex-media-server-experimental
      - VERSION=1.30.3.6509-ea6337004

or

      - PLEX_DOWNLOAD: "https://artifacts.plex.tv/plex-media-server-experimental"
      - VERSION: "1.30.3.6509-ea6337004"

As you can see from the log, it’s inserting the values including the " into the URL:
"https: //artifacts.plex.tv/plex-media-server-experimental"/"1.30.3.6509-ea6337004"/debian/plexmediaserver"1.30.3.6509-ea6337004"amd64.deb

I’ve been running this on a Debian server without issue so far.

My library consists of 47K episodes at 11k movies, so it’s been busy detecting credits each night between 12am and 8am!

My only issue is more of a personal pet peeeve… When hitting skip credits, it just takes me to the up next dialog (Sans the countdown) where I then have to click OK to go to the next episode. Ideally if I hit skip credits on an episode I feel like it should either skip right to the countdown or skip to next episode.

Any chance of getting an updated version of this build with the fixes included from 1.30.2.6563? I had to install 6563 the other day because this preview version started crashing on me regularly.

As far as I’m aware credit detection wasn’t included in 6563, but I did really like it.

Same here! Ive heen struggling with daily crashes on this build.

On what build might that be crashing, MacOS seems fine
