Fractured library: actor appears twice in Actor filter

I’ve managed to somehow fracture one of my libraries so that actors in movies added recently are not affiliated with the same actor in movies added a long time ago. So when I go and search based on an actor, I only get some of the movies the actor is in, not all of them.

In essence, there are two actors named Insert Name Here referring to the same person.

Anyone have an idea on how I could fix this?

EDIT: Oh, my boi Pierce is just an example. This happens for multiple actors, so many I suspect all of them.

Refresh Metadata for the whole library.

You know if this is going to cause file reads inside the library paths?

Of course it does.

Sorry, I mean more like if it’s going to read through every single media file?

Probably not, because it will only read the file header with the metadata. At least that is how it works on regular, locally attached storage or with LAN file shares.

Whether it works that way with cloud storage depends on how smart the software is which mounts the cloud storage.

Oh boy. Alright, I’m going to give it a try. Thank you!

Ran Refresh Metadata for some of the movies individually and it fixed this for them. So definitely works as a solution. Thanks again.

(Didn’t find the courage to run it for the whole library yet.)

A full library refresh is most certainly needed. See Plex is creating new/duplicate Tags for Directors and Actors that are already in my server - #6 by drzoidberg33 for more details on why its needed.
