Hello,
Apparently, TIDAL is giving us free upgrade to TIDAL HiFi. Well, I have subscribed to TIDAL thought the PLEX and I can’t change the plan here. Even tried to re/link the account again, still no change. Is there something I can do or Plex will magically upgrade the account for me?
I was reading this also, hopefully they get something worked out to upgrade us without too much of a bother.
To try and clarify, what TIDAL did (as far as what matters on the Plex side) was really just renaming their subscription tiers:
- “Premium” got renamed to “HiFi”
- “HiFi” got renamed to “HiFi Plus”
TIDAL made these changes starting yesterday and we haven’t yet had a chance to update all the names/labels on our side of things. Looking at your “qukler” Plex account, you previously started a “TIDAL Premium” subscription. While it still (for now) has that label on the Plex side, it is in reality what TIDAL is now calling their “TIDAL HiFi” tier. So, you should now have access to lossless playback, since that’s now a feature of the lower tier.
Thanks. I tried with Plexamp and it actually shows it is playing Flac now on the old premium. One minor note though, is if you have saved a tidal album to your plex library it remains as the old aac 320k. Maybe in time that also changes.
Thanks for the clarification, both of you. Solved.
I have now a TIDAL Hifi subscription (non plus), and i can play the flac-tracks if i search for an album, but if I add an album to my plex-library only the aac version gets added. Is this something that will be fixed?
Yes, that’s something we’re aware of and currently investigating. No specific details to share right now, sorry.
Also discovery radio seems to play only aac files from tidal.
Why you just don‘t take the highest available quality for the account like logitech media server does it?
You are still searching the location in your sourcecode where you hardcoded the lower tidal subscription tier to aac?
Any Update on this Issue?
At the current state the integration plex-tidal is more or less useless.
If i want to browse only the tidal library to play music I can use the tidal client.
The key to use plex is the ability to browse a merged library…
I have the same issue as deaflizard. Is there an ETA when this will be fixed?
Also having a similar issue. I can not create/start artist radio, album radio, or any form of radio that I could on Tidal previous to this update. It’s basically eliminated the one way I discover new music.
Those radios really have nothing to do with TIDAL—only “Discovery Radio” is about TIDAL. If you’re having an issue, then it must be something else.
Please create your own forum topic with specific details (e.g. precisely what you’re experiencing, exact steps to reproduce, etc.). Attaching Plex Media Server logs zip file, grabbed right after reproducing the issue a single time, to that topic will also be useful.
Hi Chris. Just doing a cheeky reply to you here as I am wondering if the standard Tidal subscription via Plex (£8.99 or so in the UK) is now delivering FLAC within Plex (and hence also Plexamp) as per the change in Tidal subscription tiers? Someone had mentioned upthread that only AAC was served up.
Appears you were going to look into this but I can’t yet see an update. Thanks
Hi chrisc, is there any further update on this? Once this issue is resolved the plexamp + tidal combo will be perfect solution for my use case
Any update on this? I’m seeing the same thing with Plexamp 4.0. Individual albums from Tidal come across as FLAC but same albums in radios are AAC 320. Looking to get consistent Tidal quality across all parts of the app.
so this bug is still not fixed? ![]()
