Freeview EPG/Missing Channel Data

@sa2000 That’s most of the FreeView Wales then as there are Northern Ireland channels in the Wales EPG where the channels I need should be! Now, if this is correct then Wales has moved over night and become a part of Northern Ireland… Sorry to any users in NI…

As for channels being labelled weird, I can confirm this to, very confusing, especially when trying to match channels to their correct placement…

The form you’re giving the link to, will this process be as long winded as the Gracenote one, where nothing was ever fixed?

Dave

I said that Plex Media Server may decide to pick a national lineup rather than local lineup because of the way the scoring is done.

I am not aware of issues where Northern Ireland channel is listed in a local welsh post code lineup. If you have evidence of that - then please screenshots (not cropped) / debug logs and please also use the form to help us

@sa2000 So ratings are more important than a more accurate lineup… You are really helping me decide what to do with Plex after the day I’ve had.
Maybe, I spent money wrongly on the wrong media server?
I’m patient, having kids will do that, bit I’m giving myself and family one more week with Plex live TV, if things are still just as bad, will definitely stay looking at other ways to get TV with a none scoring way to get the lineup to…
Sorry for my rant, but channels that are in a lineup that says Wales over the air lineup, Should gave that region’s channels in, lot another countries because of some scoring system or AI algorithm that Mark “The Oracle” Zukerberg has created, my life isn’t on Facebook and I don’t do algorithm’s

Dave

Just as an update, RTE channels are in most of the Freeview lineups, please check them your end, as I said these are the wrong channels for the region/country, plus the EPG data is old to!!

Just to add to it to which “Hand picked lineup” I’m using again, supposed to be Freeview Play Wales, where there’s no Sony Movie Channel and channel 53 & 54 are RTE 1 & 2 and there are 3 BBC 4 Channel’s… The wrong one is on channel 82 where there’s no channel allocated for this at all in the Welsh lineup and 54 is Paramount Network… I would use the page to submit this discrepancy, but, after the Gracenote fiasco, I would rather not till we get full assurances that the EPG data would be fixed in a Quaker time frame than when it was Grapefruit doing it. Sorry for my paranoia, but been burnt that many times using the old page, I feel it’ll be the same again.

Dave

I also see the irish RTE channels, being in the North East there is no way i can receive these

I also used the feedback form quite a bit with the old lineups, needless to say, it made no difference, things didnt get fixed
So i will not be submitting anything on the feedback form unless a guarantee is made that the fixes mentioned will be done, I still dont beleive it should be upto users to report issues that should be basics of the system

My recordings have moved off Plex for now, EPG is almost useless in its current form, hopefully by the time it goes live to everyone on the 1st, it will be working

@paulsalter Glad I’m not the only one seeing this, and to top it off, on the Freeview Play EPG, I’m actually down another 5bchannels!! Please don’t give us the rubbish that it’s because they’re not being transmitted, they are, plus yeah I used my correct post code, and these channels are missing in each of the “Freeview” lineups as what’s the use in using the sky or FreeSat EPG when it’s DTT not Satellite, still insure why these are showing in the list at all?

Dave

@sa2000

It’s easy to replicate the issue

Pick any UK postcode you have available and set it up using the OTA lineup

When matching channels
Look at the channel name from the tuner (left) and the channel name from the EPG (right)
Both columns should show the same name (name from tuner at the left is correct)

I’ve just give against my better judgement, and reported the entire Freeview Play Wales IPT likeV EPG. Including the God knows how many missing channels to boot, a lot more than were on Gracenote that’s for sure at present.
Not holding breath, but thought I’d give it just one try to see if we get somewhere!! @sa2000 we await your verdict and see if your geography is any good??

Dave

The cause of the cryptic names alone appearing in the right column has now been identified - A solution is being worked on

@paulsalter It’s like watching a Paul Daniels magic show on BBC TV!! You’ll like it, not a lot… Can’t get anymore cryptic than that!!
Well, once the Channel names have been fixed, will a proper lineup happen for each region? You’ve got to remember, all this has got to be done before July 1st! I’ll help as much as I can, but I doubt it’ll be done in time though…

Dave

Just done a delete and install DVR.

Tuner: 12 - Quest, EPG: 12 Dave (the EPG thinks Quest is 37)
Tuner: 13 - E4, EPG: 13 C4+1 (EPG thinks E4 is 28)
Tuner: 14 - Film4, EPG: More4 (EPG thinks Film4 is 15)
Tuner: 15 - C4+1, EPG: Film4 (EPG think C4+1 is 13)
Tuner: 18 - More 4, EPG: 4Music (EPG thinks More4 is 14)
Tuner: 19 - Dave, EPG: Yesterday (EPG thinks Dave is 12)
Tuner: 25 - Yesterday, EPG: UKS-FV (I don’t even know what that is, EPG thinks Yesterday is 19)
Tuner: 28 - E4+1, EPG: E4 (EPG thinks E4+1 is 29)
Tuner: 29 - 4Music, EPG: E4+1 (EPG thinks 4Music is 18)
Tuner: 37 - DMAX, EPG: Quest (EPG thinks DMAX is 42)
Tuner: 40 - movies4men, EPG: Sony Crime Channel (EPG thinks movies4men is 48)
Tuner: 62 - TrueMovies, it’s the right channel in the EPG - but it’s called TrueXmas (which it obviously only gets called at Christmas)

DSQ+1 and DA1-FV are correct but they are hardly descriptive names, I had to wait for the EPG to populate to see if they were correct.
I can’t begin to guess what I am supposed to select for BBC Scotland Channel HD - so I’ll leave that for now.

Everything else appeared to be fine.
Postcode: TD10

EDIT: Well almost - 003 is ITVNET which I assume means ITV Network as in the National network and not ITVBorder - the regional network.

EDIT2: I found the link to the form, and submitted the above via the form.

If issues are brought to the surface and the form used - then hopefully yes
The forms are being processed and collated. Snippets of information in posts here may get lost and not picked up in time.

We need lineups per region @sa2000, as it seems someone at Plex is having a giraffe with us and putting the Irish channels in all the lineups, and I’ve noticed ITV Borders show up in a couple, I’m in Wales for goodness sake, not Ireland, not Scotland!!!

Dave

Hello please can I have some guide data from 2100 tonight? I’ve refreshed the guide this morning, re-scanned etc. Still says to be announced. How come? I have a TV listing mag that manages to print complete billings for the week ahead… But Plex can’t seem to find them!

Grrrr

I see the Domino effect has started… @Tizwas which region are you in? And have you updated to the latest version? If so, I’m afraid you’ll have to re add the DVR as the original Gracenote EPG is no longer available…

Hope this helps?

Dave

In the UK. I’ve updated to the newest sever version, although the guide still says powered by Gracenote at the bottom.
I did a channel re-scan, do I have to completely delete the DVRs and start again then?

Good to see some changes are going to happen, once the majority of the EPG looks good i have no problem filling in the form for discrepancies

I think the ITVNET has been mentioned above (or in a similar topic), this is because it is defaulting to a national setting by error and will be fixed, not sure how big an issue this is for the other nations, for me it’s only the news which is showing a London EPG instead of local (BBC One i think is the same)

Afraid v so @Tizwas, as the current EPG isn’t in the new list, but as I said, welcome to the land where Ireland is in the in the UK!!

This part Plex don’t tell anyone about, and they do say the new form gets things done quicker… We’ll see about that… They have a week now I’ve added a load of channels to fix it, that’s the challenge!!

Dave

The auto migration to the new EPG is not enabled for the UK yet because of some known issues with the EPG channel mapping for the UK

However, if you create a new DVR, it will use the new EPG

With auto migration disabled for the UK, the selection of a National lineup will be on the screen when you go through setup and you can select another lineup.

It is picking National at the moment . Selection is done by a scoring algorithm for channel mapping and the National lineup is getting a higer score with the new EPG data, This has been raised
