WebOS version#: 05.10.50 (strangely if I get this information from within the Plex app itself, it reports WebOS 4.1.0 ?!)
Lately I’ve encountered an issue when playing via the Plex App on our LG OLED65B8STB, streaming via local wired network from Plex Server running on a Synology DS216+II (upgraded to 8GB RAM).
It should be noted that when playing back on the same local network, or even transcoding remotely - to all our other devices including MacBook/iPad/iPhone etc via the app and web interface, this problem never occurs, it happens purely on the LG WebOS Plex app.
Some files playback flawlessly, but others, in particular it occurs during videos which have animated transition scenes, will freeze the video and audio but the playback timer continues counting. If I leave it for a couple of minutes it will shift a couple of frames then eventually resume but playback will be stuttery. If I fastforward 30 seconds it resumes playing normally, and I can then rewind 20 seconds to just after the point of freezing and it’ll be fine. If I rewind back to just before the freeze point it will do it again.
I’ve monitored the playback info on both the server dashboard and app and both suggest it is using Direct Play, so not a transcoding issue.
Does anybody know what might be going on here please?
I’ve attached the media XML for a file which has this happen 4 or 5 times throughout, and captured the server log from whilst playing it…
