Hi Everyone, I’m having a very perplexing issue. I run plex on a linux box inside my closet.
Everything is set up correctly with port forwarding and I have about 10 friends/family that are able to remotely connect with zero issues whether it’s a mobile device or tv.
However, my neighbor for some reason can’t seem to connect to my server 3 houses down from me. He is the only person experiencing these issues.
At first, I thought it was something on his network end. But when I went to his house and logged into my account. I was able to remotely connect to other friends plex servers just fine. Just my own is showing unavailable.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is my server specifically signaling out his IP address somehow? I’m not even sure where to begin troubleshooting this.
Given you can go to your friend’s house and replicate the issue with your account, it’s not an account issue.
The next obvious thing to check is your WAN Firewall. Do you have an express block on the IP address (or a rule which blocks the range of IP addresses) your friend is using?
Checked both the firewall and server, no Ip’s or blocks being banned from connection. My only thing is that @Volts might be onto something. I’m going to try running a hotspot at his house to see if I can connect from there.
