So I was sent an invite to someones server and it has a warning server is currently unavailable.also tv shows and movies no longer appear in the left home panel.Not long ago things were fine,I had access,any ideas?His server is on a Linux system
You might want to contact the friend who shared his library with you.
From what you describe it sounds like he might no longer be sharing them with you…
Ya but if I click on “users and sharing” it shows next to “friends” it says hes sharing 2 libraries with me.that information I can see on my player.
another obvious scenario: the server is indeed down?
He says that his server is up and running fine and hes able to cast to devices,ipad phone.
remote access could be down… can he play videos while being outside his home network?

Do you experience a different behavior if you attempt accessing his server from within your home network vs. outside (e.g. your mobile with disabled WIFI) or depending what client app you use (e.g. Plex Web, Plex Media Player, on Roku / Apple TV / Android TV…)?
Ok i tried it on my andriod,it works fine with wifi disabled.With it disabled i can see movies and tv shows,with wifi enabled same problem.
That suggests the issue is either with your ISP (e.g. if they’re blocking a port used by Plex — by default that’s TCP 32400 unless you’re friend is using a manual port forward from a different port on his server/router) or some configuration in your router / home network is disturbing things (could be a firewall configuration blocking the communication from/to your Plex client).
I recommend contacting your ISP, asking them if they’re blocking this (probably for „security reasons“) and if so… to unblock it.
Now its complaining on my andriod after i re-enable wifi “unable to connect to user securely”.it shows movies and tv shows like grayed out but still unable to access them.oh and the user has secured connections set to prefered on his server but i dont know how to create secured connections on my end.
Makes sense because i took my android 2 miles away from the home and tv shows and movies now show up fine.
Solved…In the end it was a simple router reset that solved the problem thank you for your help.
