I cannot get a connection. The bug is either on the router/internet providers side or on plex. Cannot tell right now for sure, but my guess would be a problem with Plex…
Anyhow, on the router I activated UPnP support and (just in case) deactivated the firewall. Also, on the host PC (Windows 10) I shut down any kind of Defender/Firewall, too.
Now I try to enable Remote Access within Plex. It takes roughly half a minute when Plex tries to connect to Server. I do get a green light. But using canyouseeme.org does tell me, that it cannot reach anything. After a few seconds (or minutes, the duration varies) the green light from Plex automatically turns into a red one.
Can anyone give me a hint how to solve this connection issue? My router doesn’t really have a Port forward feature, but an “IPv6 Host Exposure”. Is it possible, that Plex cannot handle IPv6?
ps: when I use the same setup, except disabling UPnP support from the router, Plex cannot get a green light at all. May this gives someone a hint?
You might want to take a closer look at this troubleshooting guide in order to pin down what’s causing your issue. Plex is not yet dealing particularly well with IPv6 environments – there’s a few clients which will be able to successfully establish a remote connection to an IPv6 PMS but IIRC that’s only the iOS/tvOS clients (with some mixed results using Plex Web).
If you’re only getting a brief green status from the remote access status indicator, that doesn’t mean there’s been a successful connection. When your PMS attempts to confirm it is accessible, it’ll display a green status while that check is in progress.
