Friend using server

Before this newest update my friend has been using my login info from his house, through his Roku App, to view my media collection in Plex. I did the upgrade and now when he puts my login info in, it has him put in my 4 digit pin then tells him it can’t locate the server. Did something change with the upgrade? I also installed a new modem/router the same day so I don’t know if that is the problem or if something was changed on your end. Any help would be appreciated

Never give out your credentials - to anyone

Creating a basic Plex user is 100% free and takes less than 5 minutes. It only requires an email which I hope your friend either has or can get free. You will then share your server with this user, thus circumventing the need to give out your credentials.

(I’d personally start with you as the owner browsing to server settings and make sure that you have a green tick on remote connection and that the server is signed in)

Thank you so much. I’m an idiot lol. The manual port box was checked with a specific port and I had a red exclamation in the remote access box. I unchecked and all is working good now. Appreciate the help! TC

I wouldn’t trust my life-long best friend with my Plex Pass… There ARE limits you know! :smiley: lol

There was a time, not so long ago, when people were selling Plex account infos on the internet in whole packages… so be careful! Don’t give out your credentials to anyone, and use strong unique passwords for every site, and manage them with an app like 1Password (which Plex supports and integrates into its login screen already).

Well, brother or not. I also don’t give my sister my Plex, Phone or ATM codes :slight_smile:

I don’t give my sister or my mother or my father my account. What happens when they leave your account logged into someone elses computer?
