Title: Crash in Android app when browsing by folder
Description:
Updated to the newest Plex Pass Plex Media Player on my MacBook Pro. Now when I leave the app in full-screen mode and quite out it is fine. But when I reopen it the full screen is broke and is stuck in a partial full screen and doesn’t show top bar and using the Cmd+Crtl+F it doesn’t fix it at all.
Server version: 1.9.1 on macOS High Sierra
App Version: Plex Media Player 2.1.0.74-8e24a8f4
Steps to reproduce:
Opened Plex Media Player in Desktop Mode.
Click the green fullscreen button to make it go into full-screen mode.
It is still happening to me. Not sure why it’s happening. Only thing I can do to fix it is when quitting set it to window mode or if I did quite the Plex app and it stuck in it then I just set it to window mode and then quit and reopen and its back to normal window mode.
I hope it gets fixed soon. It would be nice to not need to make it window mode then quit and reopen it and then put it back into full-screen mode just to fix it.
I didn’t mean to accept the one as an answer on this post lol. Not sure if I can remove it as an answered.
I’ve got a similar issue with OSX Yosemite. The only difference that there is a black bar on top, and no flickering. In result TV shows appear as having black borders around them. Since I’m on iMac with 19:10 aspect ratio, I’m guessing plex app sets wrong aspect ratio. My solution is to use older version of player (1.3.4). The main annoyance is that plex is trying to update itself every time the app starts.
I have a workaround for this issue: I’ve created and Applescript that opens PMP and puts it as the most front application. Just create a new Applescript with the following code:
tell application "Plex Media Player"
reopen
activate
end tell
delay 3
tell application "System Events" to set frontmost of process "Plex Media Player" to true
Save it as an Application, and launch PMP with it.

I have just tested this and it still doesn’t work. I still have it do what the Gif in my thing shows. I am also updated to version 2.2.1.758-5dad2d62 I also wish I could remove the Answer tag. I didn’t mean to mark his as the answer in this.
Same issue here. Plex media player opens in some kind of full screen mode, but is not the active app after start. Instead the previous used app (i.e. finder or chrome) is the active app and even shows the menu bar of this previous app above the “full screen” plex media player.
To use plex media player I first have to click anywhere into the full screen of plex media player to make it the active app.
This has been happening in all versions after 1.3.9 (including the latest 1.3.12).
Reverting back to 1.3.9 solves the problem. This was the last working version that opened correctly in full screen mode.
Are there any plans to fix this?
It also prevents from PMP having its own screen, which was the best thing about the macOS version until I upgraded from Sierra to High Sierra…
This is extremely annoying. I have no keyboard or mouse plugged into my mac. Starting plex from my TV remote causes plex to start, but with the title bar issue. Worse though is that PMP doesn’t have focus so for me not only does it look like crap, but it also renders it unusable.
Plex doesn’t launch as a full screen application properly for me on High Sierra. When opening, it creates it’s own screen sized window instead of using macOS’s native full screen feature.
If I launch Plex in windowed mode, and then tell it to enter full screen, it works properly.
I got the same issue lately with Yosemite. Suddenly (I guess Plex made an update) I got this annoying menu bar on top.
I can only get rid of it by using a remote connection from my mac book, because I don’t have a mouse connected to my mac mini.
I would be really happy if somebody could help me.
Did this ever get resolved? I’ve been having this issue and yes, very annoying. I have the latest PMP (2.25.0.0940 as of this message) running on on El Capitan (10.11).
I have a Mac Mini connected to my AV receiver which connects to my TV. When I turn the TV and receiver on I get that bar at the top. If I move the mouse, it seems to go away and I never see it again until I turn things off and back on at a later time.
Please share anything you’ve been able to do to resolve or get around this. It’s a pain to tell Alexa to turn things on and tell Plex to play a movie only to have to walk across the room and move the mouse to get the bar to go away. Serious PITA.
