I don’t know what’s going on here but I am using Manually specify public port 32400 and after awhile no one can connect to my Plex Server until I go into the Server/Remote Access and click Apply again.
I use to have port forwarding in my router from local IP 192.168.1.2 to UDP and TCP 32400 but these settings would stop working after awhile also
.
What do I need to do to fix this, is there any other ports to use other than 32400?
Remove the UDP. Only TCP is needed.
The checkbox ‘Manually specify public port’ is filled?
Yes, you can use a different public port, if your router allows you to define a port forwarding rule with different port numbers for private(internal) and public(external) interface. Internal, it is always 32400 but external you can use almost any port number. The used external portnumber then needs to go into the input field behind the checkbox ‘Manually specify public port’.
I recommend to configure this on every Windows computer used as either Plex server or Plex client:
Ok, I’ll add port 32400 TCP to local IP of 192.168.1.2 in my router and uncheck box in Manually specify public port and let you know how that goes.
I was reading somewhere that Plex uses 2 ports 32400 and 32401 for memory
That’s not what I was saying.
The checkbox needs to be ‘checked’!
For remote access, only port 32400 is used.
Ok will keep the checkbox ticked and add port 32400 TCP to router ?
I am still having problems with being fully accessible outside the network on a daily basis will these log files help determine what the problem is that’s causing it?Plex Media Server Logs_2018-07-19_17-21-06.zip (6.4 MB)
Also the Plex Server icon disappears from the taskbar on a regular basis and loading Plex on Apple TV 4 says Resource Loader Error there was an error attempting to load resource this happened a few minutes after I downloaded the above logs can not download newer logs with out opening Plex again
