Gap in modern Unicode support

Plex presents errors when tagging videos with various Unicode runes, such as the multiplication sign (×). This breaks many anime tags.

As a workaround, users can opt to apply classical ASCII runes (x, X). However, text processing in modern applications should generally accept the vast majority of Unicode runes (e.g. UTF-8 runes), including in tags, in order to process non-U.S. data with integrity intact.

Where do you experience such issues?
I’ve see the wildest combinations of titles with Unicode characters and even emoticons working flawlessly in the past.

You mean like this?

The question is: what are you using to run the web app?
Does the issue occur in other Plex apps platforms as well?
Are the special characters only in the embedded meta tags, or also in the file and folder names? And if the latter, is storage running in the same machine as your Plex server, or is it in a separate device (NAS/file server)?

I once found this in a thread
