The fact that in 1969 we put a man on the moon yet in 2017 not only Plex, but many other media players (mainly mobile ones) struggle with gapless playback makes me uncharacteristically angry.
At least its being worked on, thanks.
I would be very happy to see this feature implemented.
Any news on gapless playback? Is it really so hard to implement?

You have to realize they have to pre-buffer the next song if youāre near the end of the current song. They might have not implemented anything like this and only start the buffer as soon as a song starts. So could take more work than you might expect.
Itās now May and we are nearly mid way through the year, believe it or not. There have been quite a number of updates as of late on Plex Media Player and Plex Media Server, but still no sign of gapless playback.
An estimation date will suffice? And on what platforms are you working on, would that be too much to ask for? Maybe, Iām not sure
Yes I agree, ETA plz?
+1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
This should be a priority pleaseā¦its a basic feature like AIR CONDITIONING in a car when listening to music. Yeah I can drive a car without it but it on the wrong day (music style) it sucks.

Not implemented yet, but itās on our list.
Is there an eta on this?
Plex doesnāt give ETAs. When you give an ETA and you miss that date, people get really pissy. I wouldnāt give one out either if I was working for Plex.
Ignoring your customers is a great way to show your appreciation to them.
This is definitely my most requested feature. If this were implemented, I could solely rely on Plex for music playback. For now, I use it primarily for movies and TV shows, with the ability to stream my music, but it is definitely not ideal in doing so for this sole reason.
Weāre working on it. Just to make sure: you refer to immediate switching between music tracks without audible blips, correct? We donāt plan doing cross-fades or anything, at least not for the first version. Itāll also depend on the audio files themselves to some degree, and itās not clear whether the initial version will support it properly if transcoding is involved.
I think what we need is the ability to play an album without gaps between tracks - many albums have songs that donāt really end at the end of the track and are meant for continuous playback.

If you are playing a live album then normally there should be no silent gaps between tracks. Most music players out there supports this and Plex Home Theater did as well.
As @yoavsapir mentioned above, quite a few studio albums are intended to be played without silent gaps in them as well.
Imagine if the PMP introduced 1-2 seconds of silent blank screen between scenes in every movie. Yes, it is that fundamentally important to me.
This would be a major step to feature parity between PMP and PHT if it was resolved.
Implementing Gapless Playback, along with fixing the bug with the iOS Plex App that makes you delete the app to get your space back after unsyncing something - would REALLY help show some loyalty to the people who dropped the $$$ on Plex Passes.
Absolutely need gapless playback in Plex: Live recordings with applause at the end of a track, then SILENCE, then applause resumes - thatās nonsense. As an opera buff itās crazy trying to listen to a whole act which has been divided into tracks which then have intrusive seconds (feels like minutes) of silence inbetween. Hey, if Kodi (which I hate) can manage it and Logitechās lame Media Server too, then why not the otherwise far superior Plex?
I just listen to Charly Haden/Carla Bley - The Ballad of the Fallen - what an ingenious album - but it should be like one piece, without this terrible and annoying gaps between tracks :s
Yes, I also need this. In my car, the gap causes the Bluetooth to disconnect and temporarily switch back to the radio. By the time the Bluetooth is reconnected and synced with the next track, 15 seconds have passed. On my home audio system there is also a 1 second thump sound coming out of the speakers before starting the next track.
I really hope weāre near with this.
As a prog-psychedelia-live music fan, Iām very annoyed by the gap between tracks.
