Gapless Playback on Plex Media Player 1.2.0 (Windows)

What if we would know what the implementation of this feature would cost. We could raise a fund for it. Personally I find this feature an absolute must-have for a renowned application like Plex.
I would really appreciate this to be implemented.

so…how’s the gapless playback coming along? I can’t believe this still has not been properly addressed.

It’s not coming along. This feature has been requested since the start of Plex, and the devs have said it’s on their ā€œprorietyā€ list for years. At this point, it will never be added. I doubt the devs have even considered working on it, let alone actually trying to integrate it in Plex.

It looks like it’s client-specific, and therefore supported at the server level. For me it was working since Sept 2017, and at least one other person has confirmed this, but only for the iOS client (I don’t have other clients, so I can’t confirm whether there’s gapless playback or not)

so…
iOS ok
WINDOWS ok (Plexamp now works fine)
yes but android ??

Please fix the gapless playback issue folks. Please please.

I add my voice to the crowd too.
A music player in 2018 without gapless is an unspeakable shame

if plex had gapless playback i would be able to use it for 100% of my media

Any movement on this? It surely can’t be THAT hard to add?

been a plex pass holder for 5 years but will have to move soon as not having gapless after all the other great features offered is unforgivable.

2019 here! Ready for gapless playback. i don’t mean to sound like a smart-ass, but this thread alone has been around since 2016…

Plex, what’s the status of Gapless playback? Obviously your user base wants it. Speaking for myself, I want gapless playback more than any other feature. I will also echo the sentiment on Pink Floyd (or any other band that has fluid transitions from song to song) – Without gapless, the mood is absolutely RUINED and it makes me want to ditch Plex! What’s it going to take to make gapless a priority?! After-all, Plex is about enjoying music (and movies). If we can’t enjoy the music, what’s the point of using your software?

(Edit: I just read that it was introduced into Android this past November. Assuming it works, thanks! I’d still like to see it in Google Chrome on Windows though).

frankly I don’t see where the problem is when you have Plexamp for Windows MacOS and Linux
the problem is the quality of gapless that does not always work as it should

Listening to my music using the player for Windows right now. All those long silences, sometimes accompanied with clicks and pops… This needs to be addressed

If you’re listening on computer, I’d highly recommend Plexamp for gapless playback. We certainly want to bring gapless playback to more platforms, but I don’t have any more information than that at the moment, I’m afraid!

I did try Plexamp but my library is way too big to be able to navigate it comfortably with it. I have a dual monitor setup where the second one is dedicated to the music player. I need it that way for my needs. My other option was to send the audio from the player to Plexamp but it’s not feasible since I’m not on the same network as the PMS.
I like the way Plex looks and its streaming abilities, but it’s missing so many basic features. It’s a tough fall for someone coming from MusicBee (see: gapless playback, remove silence between tracks, each playlist can have its own view, playlists colums for sorting and extra informations, etc.) :frowning:

I don’t think I’ve ever uninstalled something so fast. Plex Amp is terrible for PC. Let’s get this going for the player or Chrome please.

We’ll have to disagree on calling it terrible. I really like it for playing pretty much any audio format, without gaps. Browsing an entire catalogue in it isn’t great, but it’s not made for that.

I gave up on PMP over a year ago. Been using PKC plugin for Kodi. It supports gapless playback and all the many other Kodi plugins including the exceptional Titan skin. Doesn’t support live TV though.
