Hi guys, I hope someone can help me.
Already tried several times also uninstalling and reinstalling PMS.
Nothing to do after few seconds “server not powerful enough” also if I can see HW transcoding…
When Hw transcoding happen, I see only barely gpu usage (20-30%) and massive CPU usage (90-100%) it sound strange to me. I just don’t understand how to solve this issue.
this is the main feature wich made me switch to plex pass but I’m really having trouble using it.
i Hope someone can help me.
tried also with web player or my LG g4… same results.
Just an update FYI:
I tried running Plex under UnRaid (never tried before, really user friendly setup for this Operating System). In a few hours after reading some guide my PMS under docker was Up & Running.
Now I’m able to Hw transcode every single file I have, the previous mentioned runs with barely 10% CPU usage! I tried also 4K HDR 10Bit demo and not considering the washed out colours (I kno it’s a known problem) the file plays smoot like a butter and with a VERY low CPU usage!
Maybe the Win version had problem o were problem related to the windows graphics driver I don’t know!
Hi was thinking on buying this soc cpu board, have you tried again with windows 10 ?? if not could you point me in the right direction on how you setup with current configuration
UnRaid Setup & Running on:
J4105 - 8gbDDR4 - 64GB SSD samsung as cache drive - 2 x320GB (very old, just to try) as Array (1 disk parity)
I rum everything on cache so my HDD remain spun down.
I installed plex on a docker & mounted the NFS folder from syno to unraid so that plex Docker can read my media
Everything is working flawlessy since 3 weeks more or less. AS soon as I’ll have money I’ll grab 2x10TB to use with UnRaid so I won’t need anymore my Syno woke up & running for watching a movie
UnRaid you have to install the unassigned device plugin, then you can simply mount a shared folder giving your NAS IP, UnRaid will see immediatly the folder!
And YES you can ONLY run UnRaid from USB seem strange but that is… UnRaid is charged in RAM at boot and that’s it. no wear on your USB device unless the first boot reading
Cheers youve been most helpful, idea is to do the same to as you, i have NUC but just struggles with hevc transcode in plex even though its the same cpu as yours
you’re running on Windows right now? I think they have driver problems, beacuse I also biul a new main pc with i5 8400 (!!!) and it is struggling too!!!
Anyway if you decide to do, i can do a step by step guide, it is really simple at the end. you have only to consider that UnRaid is not free, you have 30day free trial but then you need to buy a license.
The alternative is running on linux, I tried Ubuntu 17.10 and it was running good, but at the end I think I’ll pay unraud because it’s so more user friendly in setting up a nas box than plain linux for a noob like me (and the web ui is a plus!!! I keep my server headless)
Yeah running windows right now, dont mind paying at all. Just not much room in my nuc can only hold 2 drives thats why i need it to connect to my NAS, was going to build a small plex server with intel g4600 chip (same IGPU) with good motherboard so can install plenty of HDs.
just read it and makes no sense so im lost , i got it installed fine still only software transcoding. Anyway thanks for your help will try to find you tube guide.
