Ok I know there are several posts and discussions about how to name your DVD content. I have followed what can be found here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220677
I now have the new Age of Ultron Bluray and would like to include several of the extra’s off my disc. I have named my folders as such
M:\M_Movies\A\Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron\Behind the Scenes
Note I have 8 Hard drives so I give each a drive letter designation and then under there have movie folders A-Z so I can organize everything. So starting from M_Movies I have a folder A (in this case Avengers is going here) Under there to follow the directions I have created the Ulron folder and under that the Behind the Scenes just like asked. in that folder i have 2 files called “From the Inside Out.mkv” and “On Location.mkv” I have also gone to Settings > Server > Agents > Movies and made sure "Local Media Assests (Movies) is checked and first in the list as it says in several posts. Clicking settings for local media seems almost a waste not sure why that is there.
Any rate all of this seems to be setup find however the only thing I get under my Movie is all the extra’s off the internet I get nothing from my own collection. Can someone point me to what I am doing wrong here.
This sure seems like it should be simpler than it is with this product and I for one have loved this product for a few years now and do appreciate the improvements that have been made. I just think this area could be made simpler to setup.
According to the document you linked you should not have the “Behind the Scenes” folder, these would go with the movie file in the age of ultron folder.
/Movies
/Avatar (2009)
Avatar (2009).mkv
Arrival-scene.mp4
Bar Fight-deleted.mp4
Performance Capture-behindthescenes.mkv
Adaskoog, I think your missed reading the very bottom of that article. Having the extras in a folder is fine and should work. I used some random video I ahd and named it like this:
M:\Movie_ComicBook\Avengers\Avengers Age of Ultron (2015)\Behind The Scenes\From the Inside Out.mp4
And it shows up.
I have also gone to Settings > Server > Agents > Movies and made sure "Local Media Assests (Movies) is checked and first in the list as it says in several posts.
Did you then check the Freebase and TheMovie Database tabs to make sure local media was at the top for those too.
@MovieFan.Plex that’s likely, it’s been a long week.
What’s important to know about that:
You can only use one of these methods.
Either you rename all your extras and apply the -extrastype to their filename.
OR
you create one subfolder per extra type and place each extra file into its appropriate extra subfolder.
You cannot mix them. Make sure you either only have subfolders or only have the filename extensions - not both.
Ok so I have all local assets checked everywhere. I can find the extras however they are showing up like they are their own movie and not underneath the actual movie. Just the internet extra’s show there. I was assuming they would show up here. Am I wrong in where they will show up. Maybe I need to go and create a separate folder for each and every movie.
I have a directory A, B, C, etc as noted and all A movies are in the A directory. But now under A I have added Age of Ultron as a directory and then all the parts under that directory. perhaps this is mixing as you say and will not work. So maybe the next step is to create 1300 different folders for each and every movie. That would suck if so unless anyone has any thing else for me to try.
Yes. For the extras to be scanned, the movie needs to be in its own folder like you have in your example. In addition to having the local agent checked, it also needs to be at the top of the list.
Yeah local agents are at the top of the list in every section. It is finding them however it isn’t keeping them with the movie. It is adding them like they are their own movie. This is what is a bit confusing to me. They should be in with each specific movie itself true?
That being the case I will start putting each movie in a separate folder and see what happens. Thanks now for the long part then will see if it works.
Are you using either the freebase or Themoviedb agent? I don’t know if extras work if you using personal media or some other custom agent.

There is software out there to help you with this task.
For Filebot for instance, you could use a format string like this:
D:\Movies\{n} ({y})\{n} ({y})
(assuming you are on Windows and your movies are under drive letter D: in a subfolder named Movies)
which would move all movies into their own subfolder and change the movie’s filename to D:\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009).ext
The path can be adjusted for your system. If you are on Mac or NAS, substitute the drive letter with a mountpoint or share name.
Ok spent last night moving everything into it’s own folder. I tired just adding the extension first and that didn’t work. However after moving every movie to it’s own folder and then creating the folders for each extra, i.e. /Movies/A/Avengers Age of Ultron/Deleted Scenes, Everything is working now. Thanks for all the help. Seems that if you really want this to work best At least for my system you have to have separate folders for each and every movie. But hey It’s Working, Thanks. And thanks for the program I found something before this post called file2folder but I still appreciate the help. Now I wonder if your filebot would have been quicker I’ll have to go try it just for fun. The real pain was moving all the .jpg or png’s into the folder with the movie as well but it’s done.
Thanks again
Just as an FYI for anyone needing to create separate folders on windows there is a great tool called file2folers that accomplished this perfectly for me. Google it and find that program if you need to do this
