I am having a problem with two different, but related TV shows getting combined into a single series, while a 3rd related series is not combined. The shows are being downloaded into their own unique folders, and the file name prefixes are different. However, in the player, The two shows are being combined under one show title. Because of this, Plex is also applying the wrong subtitles (The dirt is in season 5, whereas Gold Rush is in season 7). Plex thinks that “the dirt” is Gold Rush. However, it is correctly separating “White Water”.
Here is my naming scheme for all three series:
These get combined into “Gold Rush”
D:\Media\TV\Gold Rush- The Dirt\Season 5\Gold.Rush-The.Dirt.S05E08.The.Boys.Are.Back.mkv
D:\Media\TV\Gold Rush\Season 9\Gold.Rush.S09E13.mkv
This other related series does not get combined:
D:\Media\TV\Gold Rush- White Water\Season 2\Gold.Rush.White.Water.S02E02.mkv
What can I do to find the root cause and fix this so that all three are their own series?
I have just recently added “Gold Rush- The Dirt” to my library which has included “Gold Rush” since 2014, and I discovered the exact same problem.
I tried the suggestion of adding the year to both series, however it made no difference.
Upon Googling more, I found a thread on another forum that said to:
Remove all series
Do the “Plex Dance”
Add back only the newest series (Gold Rush- The Dirt (2012))
Complete the “fix match” process
Add back the next newest series (Gold Rush (2010))
Scan Library Files
This worked perfectly for me.
Be patient though, as it will initially look all messed up and mix matched and like it marked all episodes as unwatched, but just wait, and slowly but surely it will fix itself up, and go back to how it used to be, but with the previously missing/combined series listed correctly.
