Good enough internet speed I think but can't stream anything about 480p?

mediainfo from linux shell

File size : 1.70 GiB
Duration : 40mn 6s
Overall bit rate : 6084 Kbps

I am trying to understand why I can’t stream any files in 720/1080p(for example, this file) with a download speed of 2MB/s. While My download speed is fine for twitch, youtube, anything 1080p. I can download each individual episode in less time then the length of the episode yet I have to go down to 480p to watch anything. Also, why is plexes 480p byterate so high… 1.5MB/s for 480p? That is insane. Just wondering if someone can shed some light on this, thanks. This happens for transcoded files or files I don’t need to transcode. I feel like if I can download the file in 1/2 the time of the episode, I should be able to stream the original on plex without issues.

It is not a server issue. I am the only one using it. 1 gbps line, < 20 ping, I have done speedtests between me and the server I host on and I get 2MB/s consistently.

hey there. i have a similar problem.

For about 2 weeks i am a new sony bravia owener.
The plex server is running on a small pc (i3, 8gb ram, …).

But most of the hd rip movies are only playable at 480p.
All others start playing but are stopping at 5sec of their playtime… really everytime ^^.

Even if i choose another resolution as 480p or original it does not work.

It worked before with my 6 years old samsung tv…

So now i am a little bit confused, what is going on here.

SOLVED:
i deactivated the sound “loop through”. And magically everything works
