Goofed by specifying account pin when setting up remote access?

I’ve been using Plex server for years and just signed up for a Plex Pass to allow remote access to friends. I wasn’t paying too much attention when setting up my first friend and got a page that requested I specify a 4-digit pin. I did and then when my first friend accepted the invite, he put in the same pin. Now, every time I enter my Plex media server, it asks which account I want to login to - mine or his. I also now must enter my pin before to login.

This isn’t the behavior. I didn’t want access to his account, nor did I want him to be able to affect my (He and I can tell what the other is watching based on the progress bar. I wanted my account to behave as always and him to have access to my movies and not affect the view progress bar or our “continue watching” movies. I also don’t want to enter a pin every time I login.

Where did I go wrong and how to I get the behavior I’m after?

Go into Settings - Users

Click the Lock and edit the PIN.

Was it your intent to have him as a Managed User or did you simply wish to Share a library with his Plex account?

@ChuckPa, I followed your tip and deleted the pin and my server returned to normal. Thanks!

I just wanted to share my library with him and didn’t want a managed user. A pin isn’t required for that, correct?

You are correct. you can remove him from the Plex Home you created… as well as yourself… It will disengage.

Then go to plex.tv and invite him there.
