Grant Library Access Error

When trying to grant library access I am running into the following error:

I am running my plex server via docker on open media vault. When I go to grant access I am going into Account Settings->Manage Library Access->Grant Library Access which proceeds with the Unexpected Error. I have tried sifting through the logs to no avail.

I am getting a NS_Binding_Aborted response and the following error in the browser console:

Use the hosted web app.

I get the same error on all platforms: the desktop app, ios, web via my domain and the plex domain, etc. Retried with the hosted web app and still get that error.

  1. You are apparently using a custom domain name for your Plex server. If you do that, you also need a suitable security certificate for that domain. And you need to give that to your server so it can be used. At the moment, I don’t see that domain name to be associated with your server in your plex account. Yet, it appears in the web app logs. So something is not going to plan. Is there a reverse proxy involved?

  2. NS_Binding_Aborted can mean that you are affected by “DNS rebinding protection”. A feature of DNS resolvers, but also of certain web browsers, like MS Edge.

Sorry for the delayed response.

  1. I have a valid TLS cert for that domain. I do have Plex behind a reverse proxy. I just added my domain to the custom certificate domain setting which hasn’t changed the outcome unfortunately.

  2. I’ve tried on multiple web browsers: firefox, chrome, brave, edge, safari, also these browsers in a private window, and have tried on the desktop app as well.

One thing to note is that I have been able to grant access to other accounts in the past with the same domain setup behind the reverse proxy.

I was able to bypass this error by going into my friends list, clicking on the friend I want to share my library with, clicking on the 3 dot hamburger menu for the friend, then clicking the “manage library access” item in the list.
