Green lock icons only show when I’m in settings?

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2701

Just a quick question. I’m using Plex Media Server and noticed the green locks only show when I’m in the setting screen. Never nowhere else…

Is that normal? Just wondering because tutorials I see online seem to show the green locks on the main screen. I assume those are older versions?

Keep in mind I haven’t added any of my own media yet. Just installed.

If I go to app.plex.tv it does show a gray lock icon in chrome browser and https in front. I also have my secure connections setting under network set to required.

I’m also using a Roku smart TV in my house which has a plex app installed and just want to make sure anything I stream from our home plex media server to the Roku Smart TV is secure as well.

Thanks. Pretty new to all of this.

Is the server in the same local network as your clients? Then you won’t need the additional encryption which is provided by ‘secure connections’.
Because even if your Roku is connected per WiFi, this WiFi connection is already encrypted.
Secure connections may be important if the data stream from the server is leaving your home network (i.e. if your Plex client is remote).

Hi Otto,

Thanks for the help. I have one server that is local with my clients and two servers that aren’t local. I’m still wondering is that normal for my green lock icons to only show when I’m inside the setting screen of plex media server?

Thanks

Currently, yes.
