Guest DJ based on Star Ratings

The Current DJs included in plexamp are great, and I use them all the time! But it seems that after putting a whole lot of effort into adding star ratings to the audio tracks that I have in my plex library, there should be a DJ that fills my day with the tracks I love the most. I would love to see a DJ that brought in those 5, 4.5 star tracks (maybe sonically similar or not) and then after several highly rated tracks added in a 3, or 2.5 star track to mix it up a bit. But keeping the focus on the most highly rated tracks in the current playlist.

Granted I could always manually build a playlist with only highly rated tracks in it, but hey it’s 2026…

I think you could basically accomplish this now by creating a smart playlist of 4+ star rated tracks, then use DJ Stretch, Gemini, or Freeze to infuse your playlist with other tracks.

True that would exclusively give me my favorite tracks, but I would still like to hear some of the other less highly rated tracks in my library or playlists. It would just be preferred have the selection of played tracks lean to the higher rated tracks rather than never playing anything under a 4 star rating…

Or maybe a switch could be added to bias the existing DJ’s toward higher rated tracks. Just seems like a waste to not use the preference metadata that users are already adding to their libraries.

Is this activated in your server settings?

Well good to know that it is enabled server side. Still would be nice to allow the user (which in most cases won’t be the server admin) to know or choose wether to prefer higher rated tracks.

It also seems like if it is just available server side, it would be nice to be able to select the preference or bias level with a dropdown or slider… :man_shrugging:
